INTRODUCTION
Scanner AI: PDF Scan & Docs ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting
your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and
protect your information when you use our iOS application ("App"). By using
the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
1.1 Information You Provide
- Account information such as your name and email address when you
create an account.
- Documents and images you scan using the App.
- Custom templates you create within the App.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device information such as device model, iOS version, and language
settings.
- App usage data including features used and session duration, collected
in anonymised form.
- Crash reports and performance diagnostics to help us fix issues.
1.3 Payment Information
- Your credit balance and in-app purchase history are stored in your
account. We do not store your payment card details. All transactions
are processed securely by Apple through StoreKit.
2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and operate the core features of the App, including document
scanning, OCR text recognition, batch operations, and file export.
- Manage your account, credit balance, and subscription status.
- Improve app performance and fix bugs using anonymised usage data.
- Send you optional notifications about scan completion or account
activity.
- Respond to your support requests and inquiries.
We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties.
3. CAMERA AND DEVICE PERMISSIONS
The App may request the following permissions:
Camera
Required to capture documents for scanning. Images are processed locally
on your device and are not sent to our servers without your explicit action.
Volume Buttons
Used as an optional hands-free trigger to capture scans. This can be
disabled at any time in the App settings.
Photo Library
Optional. Allows you to import existing images for scanning or save
exported files to your camera roll.
Files and iCloud Drive
Optional. Required to save exported documents such as PDF, TXT, and RTF
to your Files app or iCloud Drive.
Notifications
Optional. Used for scan completion alerts and credit balance updates.
Can be disabled in iOS Settings.
You can manage all permissions at any time via iOS Settings.
4. DOCUMENT STORAGE AND SECURITY
On-Device Storage
Your scanned documents, OCR text, and templates are stored locally on
your device by default. This data does not leave your device unless you
choose to share or upload it.
Cloud Storage
If you choose to enable cloud sync, your documents are encrypted in
transit using TLS and encrypted at rest in our secure database. Only you
can access your documents through your authenticated account.
Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account remains active.
5. ACCOUNT DELETION
You have the right to delete your account and all associated data at any
time, directly from within the App.
How to delete your account:
Open the App, go to Settings, then tap Account, then tap Delete Account,
and confirm your request.
What happens when you delete your account:
- Your account and all personal information are permanently deleted from
our servers.
- All cloud-synced documents associated with your account are
permanently removed.
- Your remaining credit balance will be forfeited and cannot be
recovered.
- Documents stored only on your device are not affected and remain on
your device until you uninstall the App.
If you are unable to access the App to delete your account, you may
contact us at the email address in Section 11 and we will process your
deletion request within 30 days.
Note: Deleting your account does not automatically cancel an active
subscription. To cancel your subscription, go to iOS Settings, then your
Apple ID, then Subscriptions, and cancel Doc Scanner AI before deleting
your account.
6. OCR AND TEXT RECOGNITION
Text recognition across all 13 supported languages is performed entirely
on your device using Apple's Vision framework. No document content or
extracted text is transmitted to external servers during OCR processing.
Supported languages include English, Spanish, French, German, Italian,
Portuguese, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, Japanese, Korean,
Russian, Arabic, and Hindi.
7. PAYMENTS AND CREDITS
The App uses a credit-based system for certain premium features:
- Multi-language OCR: 1 credit per scan
- Export to TXT: 1 credit per export
- Custom templates: 5 credits per template
Credits are purchased through the App Store using Apple StoreKit. VIP
subscribers receive unlimited access to all premium features.
Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the
renewal date. You can manage your subscription in iOS Settings, then your
Apple ID, then Subscriptions.
All refund requests are handled by Apple. Please visit
reportaproblem.apple.com to request a refund.
We do not store your payment card details. All billing is managed
entirely by Apple.
8. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The App uses the following third-party services, each governed by their
own privacy policy:
Firebase by Google
Used for account authentication, cloud database, and crash reporting.
Firebase may collect anonymised diagnostic data.

Used to process all in-app purchases and subscriptions. All payment
information is managed entirely by Apple.

Apple Vision Framework
Used for on-device OCR processing. All processing occurs locally on your
device. No data is shared externally during OCR.
9. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
Access
You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction
You may update or correct your account information directly in the
App settings.
Deletion
You may delete your account and all associated data at any time.
See Section 5 for full instructions.
Data Portability
You may export your documents at any time from within the App.
Opt Out of Analytics
You may disable anonymised analytics collection in Settings,
then Privacy.
GDPR
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have rights under
the General Data Protection Regulation including the right to access,
rectify, erase, restrict processing, and object to processing of your
personal data.
CCPA
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California
Consumer Privacy Act. We do not sell personal information as defined
under the CCPA.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email address in
Section 11. We will respond within 30 days.
10. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Scanner AI: PDF Scan & Docs is not directed to children under the age
of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children
under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has
provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately and we
will delete that information promptly.
11. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make
material changes, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this
page and notify you through the App or by email where appropriate. Your
continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your
acceptance of the updated policy.
