106th Annual Meeting

We held our annual NY Doane reunion and learned through past National Proceedings that it was actually our 107th. In the 1959 report of the proceedings of the National Reunion of the Doane Family Association of America Incorporated, page 36 states: "'The 56th Annual Doane Reunion' was held at Kirby Park, Nichols, New York on Sunday, July 26, 1959. The usual social time and picnic dinner were enjoyed by families present. As far as is known to the Doane Family Association, this group holds the record for having held its annual get together for the longest time of any group of Doanes in America. Officers elected at Nicholas for the 1959-60 year are: President: DeForest Doane, Marathon, NY; Vice President: Harvey Doane, R.D. #2, Nichols, NY; Secretary Treasurer: Mrs. Nettie Doane Hitchcock, Vestal, NY; Historian: Mrs. Emma Barrows, Vestal, NY."

We had approximately 38 people in attendance; approximately 15 of them were children, from Syracuse, Binghamton, Connecticut, Ithaca, Cortland, and surrounding areas. The youngest member was Breanna Oaks-Doane, and the oldest member was C. Anne Hulbert. Everyone enjoyed the potluck luncheon and activities.

Some of our members attended the National Reunion this year held in Crete Nebraska at the Doane College on July 19-24, 2010.
