Meet Now in Skype allows you to easily set up a collaboration space and invite both Skype contacts and friends or family who are not on Skype. Participants can then easily join meetings whether they have an account or not.

How do I create a Meet Now call in Skype?

Starting your call is as easy as signing in to Skype and selecting the Meet Now button. From there, you will have the option to Host a meeting or Join a meeting. As the host, you can Name Your Meeting and add a personalized meeting title. Then you'll get a meeting link and the option to Add Skype contacts. Once you're ready, select the Start meeting button. You can also create a video call directly from the web.

Note: In Skype for desktop, if you change your mind about creating a new Meet Now meeting, you can select the Leave button to cancel the new meeting.

Name your Meet Now call; how can I personalize my call?

You can name your meeting in the Type a meeting name field, and update the meeting avatar with a Meet Now button, an Emoticon, a Sticker, or upload a photo. If you select a Meet Now button or Emoticon, you can also choose a different background color. Select the checkmark to confirm your choice. As you start to type a call name, you can choose from a list of suggested titles or make it something all your own. After you're finished, select the checkmark again and you'll be ready to get your call started.

How do I join a call with my Meet Now invitation?

You can use our unique Meet Now link to join a call in Skype by selecting the Meet Now button, pasting the link or code into the Meeting link or code field, then selecting Join. In addition, you can paste the Meet Now link into the search field in Skype to quickly join your meeting. The Meet Now link will also open your installed Skype app on any device. Even if you're not signed in, you can join the call or chat as a guest. If you don't have Skype installed on your computer, we will open Skype for you on the web. Our supported browsers for Meet Now are Microsoft Edge, the latest version of Chrome and Safari. You can install Skype on your device as well.

If you can't or don't want to allow access to your microphone and camera, you can also join a call just to listen in (using Skype for Web only). Select the Meet Now link, then select Block or Don't allow if Skype asks for permission to use your camera and microphone. Then, select the Continue without audio or video button to join the call. Note that the other participants won't hear you or see your video, but you will appear in the participants list and be able to use chat.

How do I limit who can join my Meet Now meeting?

When you create a Meet Now meeting, by default anyone with a link to that meeting will be able to join the chat or call. If you prefer to limit access to your meeting, you can disable Allow joining via link. If disabled, participants won't be able to join your meeting unless they are manually added. You can turn Allow joining via link off or on from the meeting profile, by selecting the meeting name from the top of the chat or from the Share link button during a call.

What can I do during a Meet Now call?

 During a call you can:

 A - Open recent chats.

 B - Switch views.

C - View participants currently in the call.

D - Share the Meet Now link or turn Allow joining via link off or on.

E - Start recording the call.

F - View full list of participants.

G - Mute or unmute the microphone.

H - Turn video on or off.

 I - End the call.

 J - Open the conversation.

K - Send a reaction to the call.

 L - View More options.

There are at least two ways to work around this problem. If you have already joined a conference in this fashion (like Ken Myer did), you can typically resolve the issue by engaging in a different modality. For example, if you send an instant message the conversation window will now show all the conference participants, including yourself:

I have meetings on the calendar throughout the day listed in my Outlook calendar and they always have Skype link in them to join the virtual meeting. I lose time by having to stop, open the meeting invite, and click the link ahead of time. Also, sometimes I'm busy and forget to join, after dismissing the meeting reminder.

Is there a way to have it just automatically log me into the Skype meeting when it's time for the meeting? This would allow me to keep working until I actually hear people in the meeting talking, and it would keep me from forgetting to sign into a meeting on time.

I have regular (weekly) meetings with my doctor and a social worker. They insist on using MS Teams for this. They send me a link and I open the Web app. I can see and hear them, but they can only see me. So for some reason my microphone doesn't work. Trust me, I tried everything to get it to work. I downloaded the Teams app (using a fake business name; hope this won't get me into trouble?), I used a different microphone, I checked all my settings multiple times, etc.

So I call them on 2 phones and talk to them like that during the meeting. But it isn't ideal. Strangely enough, my mic works fine in any other program, including Skype and the "Meet Now" thingy. So I was wondering if I can join a Teams meeting using either of those?

I too have had this issue, but it happens intermittently. It is very frustrating because people continue to contact me when I am in a meeting because I show as available. I have checked all the settings you mention below, and have checked with my IT department. I have asked other users within the company, and they experience it intermittently as well. Please advise.

2. If you have not joined the meeting through webex or other web session, then still there are changes the status wont change to 'In a meeting', so join webex or any other meeting session if not done yet.

Let's assume that you want to troubleshoot issues that occur when users try to join a Skype for Business Online (formerly Lync Online) meeting by using Lync 2010, Lync 2013, the Lync for Windows Store app, or Lync for Mac 2011. Before you start, ask yourself and any external users who are experiencing the issue the following questions:

Multiple users... (but not a single user) ...from outside our organization...Can't join a Skype for Business Online meeting from multiple computers: (is usually caused by) Lync federation issue or external network issue.

To resolve any client or computer issue, first make sure that the computer is up to date. The computer should have the latest operating system updates, audio and video drivers, and software application updates to make connecting to a Skype for Business Online meeting a successful experience. To do this, follow these steps:

Skype for Business Online falls back to "anonymous join" if it can't authenticate. As long as anonymous participants aren't explicitly blocked from joining the meeting, they should always be able to join the meeting.

This specific issue occurs when two users of the same Microsoft 365 organization share the same user name (alias). Because of how Lync generates meeting URLs, two users on the same Microsoft 365 organization who have the same user name will share the same meeting URLs. This causes the Skype for Business Online conference to become corrupted.

If these troubleshooting steps don't resolve the issue, and if joining the meeting immediately is a bigger concern, use the Lync Web App. Be aware that the Lync Web App doesn't include Voice over IP (VoIP) functionality. That means that participants can only view sharing sessions. To do this, follow these steps:

Are you trying to join meetings hosted in Skype for Business Online or in an on-premises server? There are different versions of the web app that may have different requirements. If SfBO, the installer for the Skype Meetings App should not require admin permissions. One known issue is that then you try to join the first meeting, there is a firewall prompt when the app tries to open ports. It is safe to cancel the firewall prompt; the ports it tries to open are an optimization, and the app will work successfully without them. What is the experience that your users are seeing? Do they see an error message from the install?

I do not need to have a Skype for Business account to join such meeting. On my Android phone, I just installed the appropriate application and when I click on the mentioned link, I can join after providing my name.

Participating in a meeting is just as easy. Through the link provided in the Skype meeting, invitees can join a meeting. Participants who do not have Skype for Business installed can join a meeting using the same link but connecting as a "guest" through the Skype for Business web app. ff782bc1db
