If you need someone from a different account to start the meeting, you will need to have the host of the meeting start the meeting via the start_url and Zoom App first, and then have the other participants join via the Web SDK.

Hi @will.zoom What is the reason of not allowing from web sdk? We have seen that it is allowed from iOS or Android SDK for host to start meeting from host own account.

When iOS and Android SDKs have this capability then what is the cause of not including this feature for web SDK?

Do I Need To Download Zoom To Start A Meeting

Hello @will.zoom Do you think it is going to change for the web sdk in near future? Will web sdk be allowed to host meetings from their own account like we are able to do in iOS and Android SDK? Do you know any tentative date when this feature can be included in the web sdk?

I am trying to create a Zoom meeting for two other people that I don't plan to attend. Is this possible, even though I'm technically the host? Will they be able to join and conduct their whole meeting without me ever joining/participating? Are there any specific settings I need to enable in order for them to do this?

2. If the meeting will have 10+ participants and the host will not be attending the meeting, does someone need to claim the host role in order to accept people in the Waiting Room? (As of today, we can't disable Waiting Room due to the new security guidelines).

I want create meeting without login using zoom account , In my app user has already login with his/her email and password but not with the zoom account now I just wanted to start a meeting or instant meeting

Unfortunately, you cannot create or start a meeting without a Zoom account. An instant meeting requires the user to be logged into the SDK and starting a meeting requires the user to either be logged in or use a ZAK token associated with their Zoom account.

We have some documentation available detailing how to start a meeting with a ZAK token here. You cannot provide the URL in this approach though, and will need to parse the meeting number and passcode (if applicable) from the URL to pass into the SDK.

The only difference i know so far is: With start_url host did not need to logs-in to zoom to start a meeting, but with join_url host needs to logs in to zoom to start a meeting.

So host can start a meeting with start_url or join_url.

Good questions, and happy to clarify. First, I should note that your understanding so far is correct. The difference between the start_url and join_url (from a host perspective) is that the start_url includes a token ensuring the host can start the meeting without requiring login.

If you have a password, it is hashed so you will need to launch the meeting once in the browser and copy it out. Once you have your hashed password, add &pwd= after your conference number (with no spaces).

I like your answer @Seor CMasMas, but instead of a shortcut I'm using a scheduled task to start zoom.exe and using the --url as the arguments, as many of my meetings are recurring. So I want them to automatically pop them up for me, as time is always slipping by when I'm not paying attention.

The essential part is that the script parses out three fields from a typical Zoom link: The host, the meeting ID, and the hashed password. Then I just run zoom with the option of a Zoom meeting URL of the format "zoommtg://[host]/join?action=join&confno=[meeting id]&pwd=[password hash]"

We have had multiple instances the past couple of weeks of meeting hosts unable to start meetings using the original StartUrl generated when the meeting was created. When using the StartUrl, the host is asked to log in to start the meeting. This start url is stored on our end at the time of meeting creation. In this case, a couple days before the meeting.

These hosts are users generated with a custCreate action, so they cannot log in to zoom and only have access to the meeting provided by us through the start url. Additionally, the Zak token does not expire for 90 days, and is valid at the time of the meeting by several months.

We just had ANOTHER instance of a meeting not allowing the host to start. We tried re-fetching a brand-new start_url by calling the GetMeeting endpoint. The new start_url had the same issue. We needed to generate an entirely new meeting to get the participants into the meeting successfully.

Thanks for the follow-up here, based on the details shared, the behavior you are seeing does not happen constantly. For the meetings asking for password, when retrieving the start_url, are those meetings configured differently (i.e. password required)? Are you seeing any difference in the URL? For example, are there extra URL query parameters?

All meetings are generated the same way by our application. Only topic, start_time, and password will differ between creation requests. Passwords are not and never have been required, as the start_url contains the zak token for one click joining.

unable to start or join a meeting in zoom android version 13. used old and new both skd will you please provide a demo for that.

if i use sdk older version then app crash.

if i use new sdk version then sdk does not initialise and unable to process further.

Be sure to give the Zoom application access to the camera and microphone on your device. Once you have started your instant meeting, you can then invite other participants using the in-meeting controls.

Zoom provides an expansive set of in-meeting controls, located in the toolbar at the bottom of your Zoom UI, to help you create a secure and effective meeting experience. Here are some of our essential in-meeting controls to get you started:

The join before host option can be convenient for allowing others to continue with a meeting if you are not available to start the meeting, but with this option enabled, the first person who joins the meeting will automatically be made the host and will have full control over the meeting.

New meetings

New meetings scheduled with passcodes will operate much in the same way as previous meetings without a passcode. Zoom links for meetings with a passcode will have the passcode embedded in the link.

Passcodes need to be entered when attendees join:

With the Zoom client you have the capability of starting a Zoom meeting from your list of scheduled meetings in the Meetings tab or by selecting New Meeting in the Home tab. If you are missing the Start button in the Meetings tab for your personal meeting ID you may need to uncheck the box shown below.

Your participants should only need to click the link that one have previously sent them. This will prompt them to install the Zoom client if they have not used it previously but it is a quick and simple download. Once this is installed, they will be into the meeting automatically.

While a meeting owner will not get warnings from Zoom about conflicts at the time that they schedule concurrent meetings, when the concurrent meeting is launched, the owner or alternative host starting it will see the warning message, "You have a meeting that is currently in progress." Zoom will then prompt the owner to close the meeting already running before they can start the next meeting. Doing this unfortunately ends the first session prematurely for all participants.

Alternative Hosts share the same administrative controls as those of Co-Hosts; and can also start the meeting on behalf of the scheduler. However, there are a handful of things that only the scheduler can do, such as setup live streams.

While Alternative Hosts can be assigned and set up in advance, Co-Hosts can only be assigned during the meeting by the current host. As such, Co-Hosts cannot start a meeting. ff782bc1db
