==Good to know==

The Netherlands has excellent public transport but perhaps you arrive via Germany. Public transport is also very good in Germany. Or perhaps you prefer a taxi.

• NO CASH! In the Netherlands you pay for your train and bus tickets with debit- or credit cards.
  • Train tickets you buy on-line or from a machine at the train station. At the larger trains stations there are manned ticket-booths as well but then you pay a bit extra.
  • Bus tickets you buy from the driver or on-line and there are also ticket machines at train stations, airports and other strategic places. Spend your time useful while waiting for the bus.
  • On-line: You can buy all Dutch public transport tickets on-line as well.

• Bus 377 on the Sunday from the castle to Venlo train station has a frequency of ONCE AN HOUR. at xx:42 Take a 8 minute walk into account. Leave the Castle on the half hour.

== If you arrive at Schiphol/Amsterdam ==

1. Take the direct train to Venlo (every 30 minutes)

2. From Venlo take bus 377 to the Castle. Every 30 minutes and it takes 14 minutes. Ask the driver to give you a heads-up since you have no clue where to get out.

== Ryan Air to Weeze Airport ==

1. You could arrive at Weeze airport in Germany but Ryan Air might as well call that Dusseldorf. Weeze ≠ Dusseldorf.
2. There are shuttle services to Venlo from Weeze airport. You need to make a reservation. -here- or -here- or -here- Take your pick, flying cheap with Ryan Air means trouble on arrivals, departures and along the way as well!
3. From Venlo take bus 377 to the Castle. Every 30 minutes and it takes 14 minutes. Ask the driver to give you a heads-up since you have no clue where to get out.

== If you arrive at Dusseldorf Airport ==

1. From the Airport to Dusseldorf hbf =main train station. There are lots of options, take your pick.
2. Local train from Dusseldorf to Venlo. You can buy your ticket on-line in advance from the German railroads.
3. From Venlo take bus 377 to the Castle. Every 30 minutes and it takes 14 minutes. Ask the driver to give you a heads-up since you have no clue where to get out.

== If you arrive at Eindhoven Airport ==

1. Take Bus 400 or 401 to Eindhoven train station (every 8 minutes).
2. Then take the train to Venlo.
3. From Venlo take bus 377 to the Castle. Every 30 minutes and it takes 14 minutes. Ask the driver to give you a heads-up since you have no clue where to get out.

Health warnings

There are a few bugs that could cause some inconveniences this weekend. Read this to find out what could happen, what we will do and what you should do.

• Ticks: we could run into them when we go off-road. They prefer to dig themselves into the lower part of your legs. But when you sit- or lie-down, who knows what places they feel at home. You won't feel anything because the first thing these buggers do is insert an anesthetic.
  • Cover-up
  • Don't sit- or lie- down when off-road
  • Apply an insect repellent on your lower legs with DEET as the active ingredient. It reduces the chance of being attacked.
  • Check your own legs and everything and check each other after the run. We have special tick-tools and we know how to use them.
  • Find our Tick-Centre in or near the main hall of the castle. Just in case.

• Oak-Processionary-Caterpilars: Yes, that is how they are called. And these creatures are not nice. Their minute hairs float in the air and cause rushes and itching. The wind carries them over quite some distance so there is no need to be close to oak trees. The season is supposed to be over in August but maybe the caterpillars don't know that yet.
  • Covering op does NOT help
  • Heat neutralizes the protein that causes the itching. Apply hot water (not just warm but as hot as you can stand) or use a föhn. This works better than all sorts of ointments.
    • But then again, once these hairs have settled into your clothing, 1) HOT Shower, 2) Change cloths, put infected cloths in plastic bags 3) Wash your cloths >60 °C
  • Find our Oak-Processionary-Caterpilar-Centre in or near the main hall of the castle. Just in case.

• Mosquitoes: They show up everywhere, they love warm Summer evenings as much as we do. And the pregnant female mosquitoes are drawn your warm uncovered skin.
  • Cover-up
  • Apply an insect repellent with DEET as the active ingredient. It reduces the chance of being attacked.
  • Heat neutralizes the protein that causes the itching. Apply hot water (not just warm but as hot as you can stand) or use a föhn. Heat works better than all sorts of ointments.
  • Find our Mosquito-centre in or near the main hall of the castle. Just in case.

• BeerBugs: You find these mainly, but not exclusively, at Hash events. They bite you and insert a neuro-stimulant into your system. The effects of these cause both men and women to behave strangely but those affected don't see it that way. Children are not affected.
  • Decent Meals. People with low sugar and fat levels are more affected by the bug. The organisation provides breakfasts, lunches and dinners and now you know why.
  • Apply Alcohol. Find any of the bars in the main building of the Castle. All drinks are provided for from Friday 1600hrs till Sunday 1600hrs and now you know why.
  • Eat Snacks. Grease neutralizes in part the acid based neuro-stimulant. This helps for about 20 minutes each time.
  • Find the Beer-Bug-Centre in or near the main hall of the Castle. Just in case. The centre is only manned in the morning around breakfast time.
