The DMV Workshop in Empirical Political Science (DMV-WEPS) is a working group that brings together scholars using advanced quantitative methods to study the political economy of development and governance across countries in the Global South and North, including the United States. This conference aims to provide feedback on research in progress, foster collaboration among scholars with wide-ranging regional specializations, and expand participants' research networks in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area.
The workshop is modeled on similar working groups in the WEPS network. These conferences have attracted high-quality, cutting-edge, early-stage empirical research, leading to the publication of dozens of papers in top political science and economics journals. They have also fostered tight-knit scholarly communities, incorporating graduate students at these institutions as they launch their careers. Our vision is for DMV-WEPS to play an analogous role in the DMV area.
The conference rotates annually among universities in the DMV.
