Properties/Tests: 1. Colour - brown/tan or clear 2. Lustre - vitreous (glassy)
3. Streak - click on the streak plate to see what colour this mineral leaves behind.
4. Hardness - Click on the following tools to see which one is hard enough to scratch the mineral.
Always start at the softest (the pencil) and work towards the hardest (emery paper) and stop at
whichever one scratches the mineral first. Then, find the number on the Moh's hardness scale that
