A Mission of Awareness and Inclusion in Employment
Disability Mentoring Day (DMD) began in 1999 as a White House Initiative to increase visibility of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) and is now celebrated every October throughout communities across the nation. DMD has been coordinated by the American Association of Persons with Disabilities (AAPD since 2001, as a large-scale effort to promote career development for students and job-seekers with disabilities through hands-on career exploration and ongoing mentoring relationships.
Disability Mentoring Day events have been held in the greater Kansas City area since the early 2010's. At our 2025 event, we had over 200 attendees, and completed over 100 mock interviews.
