Training Description
In the pursuit to realizing digitally-empowered citizens and communities, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) aspires to carry out specialized ICT Training Program targeting the special needs sectors across the country.
Digital Literacy Training for Special Needs sector aims to:
Provide basic and introductory information on ICT-related subjects that will help enhance the knowledge of participants and, in the long run, provide them with opportunities for employment and/or entrepreneurship.
Assist the government in narrowing the digital divide while also strengthening inclusiveness among the special needs sectors in the society.
Bridge the digital literacy gaps in order to determine which target groups across different sectors have the greatest needs and where the most substantial benefits could be obtained for individual groups and for the society as a whole.
Empower both urban and rural based marginalized groups across different sectors by enhancing their ICT capabilities and by promoting the greater use of the internet and technologies in their day-to-day activities.
The Free Wi-Fi for All – Free Public Internet Access Program aims to accelerate the Philippine government’s efforts in enhancing internet accessibility for Filipinos so that economic, social, and educational opportunities will be bolstered, and the growing digital divide can be bridged.
Drawing its mandate from the provisions of Republic Act No. 10929, the Free Wi-Fi for All Program provides free, fast and secure Internet access in public places across the Philippines, such as hospitals, basic education institutions, state universities and colleges, airports and seaports, terminal, among others.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) was created through Republic Act 10844. It is mandated to be the executive government agency to provide necessary policies, plans, programs and coordinating and implementing mechanisms to promote the Philippine ICT agenda.
