According to social scientists interviewed in the film, those who endure hardships recover more quickly than we expect and may even be happier because of a traumatic event -- especially if they tended to be happy before it occurred.
At a recent showing of the film in San Francisco, Ms. Moody says, more than 50 friends showed up. After the showing, she went onstage to participate in a question-and-answer session. When she stepped off the stage, her friends flocked to greet her, and she showed everyone how happy she really is.

Melissa Moody has a private practice in massage therapy in Menlo Park, as well as at the School of Self-Healing in San Francisco. She teaches vision-care classes at Stanford to university and hospital employees, and the classes are now open to the public. She is writing a book about her story and the healing process, and has written a book of poetry, "A Time to Heal." "It was a means to access the pain I was in and heal and release from it," she says. No-one has contacted me about having Indie on TV or in commercials yet but so many people have said I'm good at jingles. Happy Dog makes people laugh and gets stuck in their head, so creating jingles is something I've looked into. Never say never. Happy Dog has opened doors to places I never thought I would go. If some of those doors opened to guest staring in shows or events, I would be happy to lean towards that as well.
There is something about Indie. He has these cartoon-ish eyes and loveable openness about him that people relate to. As well as our morning ritual, we always take an evening ride to the park. Indie will stick his head out of the window of my car, and it's great to see the reaction from oncoming traffic. People are always driving with a frown, and then they see Indie sticking his head out the window, just being happy with his mouth open and ears flowing in the wind. It evokes instant happiness in them, people love seeing it. That's one of my favorite things to do.
This happy little guy with a shock of hair is about 2.5 inches around. You can squish him flat and he will stay that way, or roll him into a ball. He has the feel & consistency of Silly Putty. But he always has a smile on his face!
It seems that white and light and gray, while still beautiful, are definitely being challenged by the cozy moody trend. I reused many of the same ornaments from previous years but did add a few new wooden pieces and some additional wood garlands. I like the natural feel they bring, as it works well with the Scandi style of the Christmas tree.
