I went grocery shopping earlier this week and was shocked to find the bread aisle completely bare! It was a scary sight! I quickly rushed to the baking aisle and was relieved to see the flour shelf was still full.

I use a stand mixer to make the bread dough; however, you can always make it by hand - it will just take a little longer. Also, if you have a hard time finding honey, just replace it with the same amount of maple syrup.

I can huge batches bread and butter pickles every year with the over-abundant cucumbers from my garden (I use the recipe from The Joy of Pickling cookbook). My family expects them as gifts every year. Yes, they lose a little bit of crunchiness with the hot water bath canning, but they last so much longer and they are still way better than store bought.

Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Butter will begin to foam and crackle as it melts. When the crackling subsides, the butter will begin to brown. Swirl the pan as the butter cooks. When the butter browns and begins to smell nutty, remove the pan from the flame and transfer the butter to a small bowl. Taking the butter out of the hot saucepan will stop the butter from overcooking and burning. Set aside to cool.

Hello! Might be too late responding, but I would combine all the dry and then the wet separately. So buttermilk and eggs and oil and then melt the butter at the last minute and add to the rest of the wet and then assemble. And bake. Make sense?

Weirdly enough, although I don't particularly love cucumbers, and as an Italian I find butter + raw veg a weird combination, I LOVE a simple cucumber sandwich. I don't know why but it is delicious. But this seems amazing - exactly the kind of pickle I love.

Ricardo, I'm not a sweet pickle person either. These are lightly sweet but yes, you certainly can cut down on the sugar. Actually I do. It will make them sharper which suits me well. You probably do want to put some sugar in. This is kind of a sweet sour sort of flavor. You would lose the breadth of flavor without some sugar (and this coming from a person who is on a very low sugar diet.)

This was a great idea, however the topping ended up being over the top! We used crossiants instead of doughnuts and next time will minus the chocolate and crumble topping. It was just a bit too sweet for bread pudding. Great. Saw receipe though!
