As a first time mom, I am constantly trying to keep up with the developmental needs of my 21 month old son. I recently came up with the idea of “do it yourself” or DIY ABC flashcards. My son is in this phase where he likes to repeat the words my husband and I say to him, and we try to associate and emphasize those words with images or real life objects to help him learn.
I wanted to start teaching him the ABC's and my first instinct was to go onto Amazon.com and buy flashcards. I did not particularly like the images that were chosen for the letters, therefore I decided to make my own. I took pictures of objects or draw them if I can't find a picture and place them on a flash card.
Here are some examples, I took a photo of an apple, a ball, and a cat, and created the flashcards for the letters “A, B, and C.”
If you like these flashcards I am happy to share them. You can download digital templates of my ABC flash cards for free.
Want a set that is already printed and cut? Contact me and I can print and cut the flash cards for you for $5.00 per set. You can customize your set with your own photos as well, just send me the photo and I will place it on the letter you desire. The cards will be printed and cut on card stock paper. The cards can be picked up or dropped off (if you live close by) or mailed to you at no additional cost.
Happy toddler learning!
