Dr. Timm

Dr. Timm was raised on a sheep ranch outside of Dixon. As a youth he had many pets such as cattle, raccoons, dogs, ducks, turtles, snakes, and horses. He developed his interest in veterinary medicine through exposure to these animals and from working with his father with sheep and cattle. He went to school in Dixon from kindergarten to high school. During this time he was honored to be chosen as an AFS exchange student to Denmark, and then after went to UCD, studied zoology, was admitted to the school of veterinary medicine in 1964 and graduated in 1968. He worked in a clinic at the University of Santiago for a year and then, after a year of mixed practice in Watsonville and a year of small animal practice in Lodi. He moved to Dixon and established the Dixon Vet Clinic with fellow veterinarian Dr. Karen Timm in 1971. He returned in 1981 to gain a masters degree in preventative veterinary medicine and then took time off to work in Brazil, Guatamala, Egypt, Poland and Romania for the USAID sponsored programs where he enjoyed helping emerging countries develop their veterinary care. He is now the sole practitioner at the Dixon Veterinary Clinic. He stays updated by utilizing many sources outside his library searches and frequent consults with clinical pathologists at the Idexx laboratory sciences and has an average of over 50 hours of continuing education classes per year.
