A collective journey to self-discovery. Para Po! Tungo sa Pinapangarap na Destinasyon tries to encapsulate a typical Jeepney ride as it features the students of Block X-VC embarking on a long and arduous adventure towards their own path to success. This exhibit is a manifestation of the students' experiences as freshmen at the College of Fine Arts, University of the Philippines. It gives way to the exploration of how the block's individual fears, differences, and diverse upbringings are encompassed by their strong desire to learn, grow, and seek answers on what it truly means for them to be an artist.
Consisting of 57 artworks both in the form of rendered pieces on 9" x 12" paper and installation works in varying sizes, this exhibit features Block X-VCs past plates in the 1st and 2nd Semester of Visual Perception. Each student contributed three artworks from Lecturer Basil Malicsi's class to demonstrate their understanding of the different concepts discussed in Visual Perception class and how each technique can be applied to effectively communicate through one's artwork. The art pieces follow the personal theme and preferred art style and medium of the artist to showcase their individuality, which is deeply rooted in each student's unique experiences, techniques, and advocacies.
As each of the freshman students share a piece of themselves with the exhibit, they also uphold the beauty and importance of finding one's self-identity amidst the chaos and uncertainty of a new environment. This exhibit, which concludes the Visual Perception course, also marks the beginning of a new chapter in the class' journey as aspiring artists, who are now equipped with more knowledge, technique, and confidence. This ultimately proves that to Block X-VC, "Para Po!" is just a momentary pause, as the jeepney to reaching goals and achieving self-discovery never stops.
