Website Tools

This video provides an overview of what's available to you on the webiste and how those tools work.

2. Reflecting on Tests of Change

The purpose of this task is to surface where your team is in the improvement process and to share successes and challenges. This is also an opportunity to get some advice or feedback from other coordinators in our network. Please take some time to complete a quick write in response to the below questions. Middle school coordinators, you may choose to write about 6 & 7 or 8th or both:

  • What is the test of change that your school is working on?

  • If you haven't started a test of change, what do you see as barriers preventing work on a test of change?

  • What has been successful with the test of change?

  • What challenges are your facing with the test of change?

  • How are you using student data to measure success?

  • What are your next steps?

When you are ready, please add your test of change reflection to the Padlet linked below. You might also choose to add documents or images to help us better understand what your team is working on. We'll take some time to gallery walk your response during the guided portion of our meeting. You can pop out the Padlet by clicking the box in the upper right hand corner or you can create your post right from our landing page.

3. Work on Implicit Bias

We'll spend much of our time today discussing and examining our own biases and how those biases may show up in our work with students. Please engage with each video to

  1. develop a foundational understanding of implicit bias; and

  2. consider how our biases may be apparent in our work with students.

  2. How did this video build on what you learned about implicit bias from Dr. Thompson-Dorsey?

Bias Isn't Just A Police Problem

After watching this video, please add to the thinking you've done in your previous quick writes using the following questions as guides:

  • What do you learn about empathy deficits? How does that add to your understanding of implicit bias?

A Student's Story

This video provides a glimpse of the experiences that one child has had from his infancy to his teenage years. After you've watched the video please compose a quick write in response to the following:

  1. What did you notice about the experiences of the focal child in this video?

  2. Have you had similar experiences? If so, how?
