Agenda

Pre-Work

We are asking you to do two things for pre-work:

  1. Please complete the survey. If you are a classroom teacher, you should have been emailed a link. If you do not have your link, please check in on the Zoom link and Sara can share your link with you.

  2. Please register for the IFL Forum happening June 9th - 11th. This is optional, but we'd love to have you join us.

Please complete prior to our live meeting at 6:00.

Survey

If you are a classroom teacher, you should have received an invitation to take a survey prior to our meeting. If you have not done so, please use some of our pre-work time to complete your survey. The survey link you received is personalized, so please jump on to Zoom and check in with Sara, Glenn, Denise, or Tony if you need your link.

You're Invited!

We are inviting you to take part in IFL's 2021 forum, Centering Student and Teacher Voice in the Equity Agenda. This year's forum will take place June 9th to the 11th and you are welcome to attend any of the sessions that interest you.

Registration is required, but is free to DISD NSI participants. Please click on the image to the left to register. Please use the discount code in your pre-work email when you register.

Materials for Our Guided Work

School Team Work (6:00 - 6:45)

Step 1: Surfacing Supports

Please take about 20 minutes in your break out room to discuss with your school team your responses to the questions:

  • What do you need from your principals to continue to move the improvement work forward?

  • What do you need from the district to continue to move the improvement work forward?

  • What do you need from the IFL to continue to move the improvement work forward?

Work with your cluster team to create a chart in Google Slides that documents your responses to these questions.

Step 2: Gallery Walk

Please take 10 minutes to look through each slide and respond to the questions below:

  1. What is one significant support that you feel we should not miss?

  2. What is something that, after seeing what other teams have noted, you realize is missing from what is on the slides?

School Presentations (6:45-7:45)

All Summer In a Day Digital Task Sheet

As you watch each presentation, please keep the following questions in mind:

  1. What are you learning about how each school or presenter is engaging in our NSI work?

  2. What do you see that you might want to adapt and try yourself?

  3. What questions do you have?

Bridge to Practice

For your bridge to practice, we'd like to ask you to do two things.

  1. Take some time for yourself and enjoy your break!

  2. We'd like you to continue to use a high-level comprehension task, a quick write to essay task, or an analysis task as a Test of Change.

To complete this bridge to practice, do the following:

  • Continue to work with your improvement team to draft a high-level task in response to the next text that you'll be working with in the curriculum. If you need support working as a team to plan the task, this document might serve as a useful resource. Remember, even if you are planning for an analysis task, you should still begin with comprehension.

  • Then, work with your school improvement team to decide how you’ll study the enactment of the task (will you look at student work? Will you use exit slips?).

  • Finally, use your task with students and then come back together with your improvement team to decide next steps (Adapt, Adopt, Abandon!).

Please be prepared to share how this work went when we meet together at the end of April.

Exit Ticket

Please complete the exit ticket before leaving the meeting. Thank you!
