Writing a Comprehensive Essay

A student may take a Comprehensive Essay as a part of his Bachelor's degree program. This program requires students to write a specific, detailed essay on a certain topic. If you are going to take this program, you must first learn how to do a comprehensive essay.

Start with an outline. This will help you figure out the topics you would like to discuss in your essay. You should also have an idea about what you want to accomplish by writing your essay. When you are ready to write your Baker's Outline, start with the first section. Choose a topic that you want to talk about. For example, if you are going to write an essay on why a candidate excels in his/her position, choose an issue that is relevant to your choice. This way, your essay will have the focus and it will not end up unfocused. Also, make sure that the topics you choose are related to the subjects that you are studying. The more pertinent to the topic, the better.

In order to prepare for your essay, you should read a lot of literature, essays, and books related to your subject. This way, you will be able to know about the history of the topic and be familiar with the main points. Since there are several elements that should go into a comprehensive essay, you need to make sure that you are aware of them.

When you are done with your Baker's Outline, choose your topic. In order to do this, look at your outline and see if there are any topics that are not related to the topic you selected. By adding more topics to your essay, you will make it a longer and more interesting one.

Finally, you need to make a bibliography. This is a list of any sources that you would like to use in your essay. Your bibliography must include the main source, as well as other relevant ones.
