Dougherty is a professor of Mathematics and the 2005 recipient of the Hasse Prize.  He is the author of Combinatorics and Finite Geometry and Algebraic Coding Theory over Finite Commutative Rings.  He has published over 120 mathematical papers and has lectured extensively in 12 countries.
