Since, it is one of the most popular destinations in Iceland; there are quite a few things you need to know before proceeding to plan your trip to Blue Lagoon Iceland.
Honestly, you will be quite astonished to know how many things there are to know about this place!
For instance, many of us may wonder if the Blue Lagoon is in Reykjavik.
Well, it is not in Reykjavik but in Norðurljósavegur 9, 240 Grindavík, close to the airport and about 45 minutes away from Reykjavik.
Reykjavik is a beautiful city and tourists usually choose to stay here and explore the nearby regions.
The Blue Lagoon is not a natural spring but is naturally made as the lava is what brings shapes to the pools. The water though is a runoff from a geothermal plant nearby but the water is not toxic.
Most tourists travel to Iceland during the summertime, when the land is showered with bright sunlight during the days. Sometimes the heat can be quite challenging and brutal for some people though. This is when you’ll find Iceland filled with people and highly expensive, but during these days you can enjoy most of the activities in Iceland if you opt Iceland private tours.
You should keep a check of the hotels and flights prior to planning your trip during the summer months since all activities and tickets sell out in advance.
Although fewer tours and activities will be available during the winter months, the flight tickets will be cheaper during this time of the year and you will get to experience a more calm and quiet Iceland!
The Blue Lagoon Iceland can also be visited during the night time. From June to mid-August, The Blue Lagoon is open until 11 pm or even midnight sometimes.
At night, the arena has a different vibe altogether. It has a very tranquil, dim and eerie atmosphere and most children would have left by night.
However, try not to plan your trip to the Blue Lagoon Iceland when the sky is dark. Since, it can get pretty dark there during the winter months.
At Blue Lagoon Iceland, it is mandatory for all children to have a guardian accompanying them in the pool as it is 4.7 feet deep at maximum.
If you choose to bathe in it, it will feel quite soothing on your body since the temperature of the water usually ranges between 37-40 ‘C. However, there might be slight changes in the temperature according to the fluctuation in outdoor temperature.
It is necessary to shower before entering The Blue Lagoon Iceland. Though you have an option of showering naked at the beach, there are now shower stalls installed for your privacy.
Post rinsing yourself and conditioning your hair; a bathing suit will be the only thing you’ll need before you’re all set to step into the Blue Lagoon Iceland.
However, The Blue Lagoon is not good for your hair, especially for people with natural, curly or colored hair. Even though the locker room at the Blue Lagoon Iceland offers lots of conditioner, your hair will still be destroyed if they touch the water.
It’s a one time trip, and I would’ve jumped into the bubbling pool without a second thought but if you love your hair too much, you might actually want to think before dipping them in this water.
You can book super jeep tours to reach there easily. Comfort tickets at the Blue Lagoon Iceland cost up to 76 EUR to 86 EUR, depending on when you choose to visit the place. Comfort tickets include the entry, towel usage, a free drink of your choice and a silica mud-mask to use at your comfort.

But if you are willing to spend some cash, Retreat Spa at the Blue Lagoon Iceland will offer a very alleviating experience that you won’t regret spending upon.
