Getting to Hualien 如何抵達花蓮?
Hualien’s main transportation links include railways and highways. It takes around 2.5 hours to travel from Taipei Station to Hualien by train. There are also major highways, Route 9 and Route 11, connecting the area. Hualien Airport offers flights to Taipei (Taipei Songshan Airport), Kaohsiung (Kaohsiung Airport), and Taichung (Taichung Airport), with flight times of about an one hour.
花蓮聯外交通以鐵公路為主，自台北車站搭乘火車至花蓮約需2.5小時；公路有台9線，台11線。花蓮機場另有航班可至台北(TSA)、高雄(KHH)及台中機場(RMQ)，約1小時航程。

Located on Hualien’s Pacific coastline, about 10 minutes by car from downtown. The port serves as a hub for cargo shipping and passenger cruises, with clear signage and basic visitor services available.

The station has two exits—Front/East and Rear/West. Ticket purchasing and boarding are on the second floor. Inside the station, you'll find the DCC Huilan Plaza, where you can buy food, drinks, and souvenirs.
分為前/東、後/西兩出口，於二樓購票與乘車乘車。車站內有DCC洄瀾廣場，可購買餐飲或伴手禮。

Hualien County has 13 townships, all with train stations except Zhuoxi and Fengbin. From the stations, you can catch buses, taxis, or rent cars and scooters. At Hualien Station’s East Exit, Hualien Bus Station offers highway transport, including Hualien Bus and Taiwan Tourist Shuttle.

Hwy 9 (Su-Hua Highway and East Rift Valley Highway) and Hwy 11 (East Coast Highway) are the two main north-south routes in Hualien.
For east-west connections between the East Rift Valley and the coast, the key routes are:
Hwy 23 (Fudong Highway)
Hwy 30 (Yuchang Highway)
Hwy 11A (Guangfeng Highway)
County Road 64 (Ruigang Highway)
County Road 193 is the only north-south county road entirely within Hualien. It starts in Xincheng Township and ends in Yuli Township, stretching about 110 kilometers, making it the longest county road in Taiwan. This route offers scenic views of farmlands and mountains, ideal for both driving and cycling tours.
Hwy 8 (Central Cross-Island Highway, also known as the Zhongheng Highway) starts from Taroko Bridge in Xincheng Township, Hualien County, and extends to Dongshi Bridge in Dongshi District, Taichung City, covering a total distance of 188 kilometers. The route passes over Mt. Hehuan and features dramatic elevation changes, leading to varied weather conditions and rich landscapes along the way. However, due to its rugged terrain, it's not recommended for those unfamiliar with the road.
臺9線(蘇花公路、花東縱谷公路)與臺11線(花東海岸公路)為花蓮南北縱向的兩條主要幹道。橫向銜接花東縱谷到海岸線的省道與縣道，有臺23線(富東公路)、臺30線(玉長公路)、臺11甲(光豐公路)，與花64線(瑞港公路)。
縣道193是唯一全線位在花蓮境內的南北向縣道，北起新城鄉，南至玉里鎮，全長約110公里，也是臺灣最長縣道，沿途可飽覽田間風光與山脈自然美景，適合開車與單車旅遊。
臺8線(東西橫貫公路，又稱中橫公路)可自花蓮縣新城鄉太魯閣大橋，通往臺中市東勢區東勢大橋，全長188公里，經過合歡山，因海拔高低落差氣象變化萬千，沿線景致豐富。但地勢險峻，不建議不熟悉路況的情況下自行開車。
