Numerous studies around the world have reported promising results regarding the effectiveness of Virtual Reality (VR) as an empathy inducing training intervention. This is because of VR’s unique ability to allow the user to take on the perspective of another individual.
However, these studies are in their early stages. There is also a significant lack of research relating to the effectiveness of a VR intervention for disability support worker training. To date, we have found no studies investigating the disability’s sector acceptance or readiness to adopt advance technology such as a VR system. This is important, because attitudes towards usage and intentions of new technology may lack conviction or be ill informed making the adoption of a VR system problematic.
As such, this survey aims to investigate and report on the Australian disability sector’s acceptance and readiness for a VR training behavioural intervention.
