disAbility Awareness Week

Promoting Disability awareness, equity and Inclusion

October is a National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). The U.S. Department of Labor announced the theme for National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) 2019: "The Right Talent, Right Now." This theme emphasizes the essential role people with disabilities play in America’s economic success, especially in an era when historically low unemployment and global competition are creating a high demand for skilled talent.

In recognition of October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), Foothill College is hosting disAbility Awareness Week (DAW) to increase awareness & promote understanding, and change perceptions & attitudes among the community. This week’s events aim to promote dialogue about issues faced by students with disabilities and highlight stigma surrounding disabilities. The events include an open house, Keynote speaker talk, community resource fair, movie screening, educational seminars and much more. Please join us.
