“It’s nonsense not to know the rules.”
NC coach Kang In-kwon explained the situation in which he stopped Peddy's protest in the first game the day before (the 30th) ahead of the second game of the playoffs against KT Wiz held at KT Wiz Park in Suwon on the 31st.
Peddie pitched 6 innings with 12 strikeouts. However, it was not without crisis. In the process of walking Moon Sang-cheol after one out in the fifth inning, Peddie strongly protested to umpire Lee Min-ho. At this time, coach Kang In-kwon rushed out and stopped umpire Lee Min-ho and Peddie. The situation did not turn dire. Afterwards, pitching coach Soo-kyung Kim came back to the mound and calmed down Peddie.
However, at this time, KT coach Lee Kang-cheol came out of the dugout and protested for crossing the foul line. We checked whether the coaching staff visited the mound twice per inning. If a pitcher is on the mound for the second time in an inning, the pitcher must be replaced. However, the protest was not accepted. The referee interpreted it as crossing the foul line to protest.
In the end, the situation ended in an incident. However, there were a series of confusing situations, including the referee's unclear interpretation and NC coach Kang In-kwon giving an excuse. Ahead of Game 2 the following day, Manager Kang In-kwon did not talk at length about the regulation on the number of mound visits. Director Kang said, “I used to coach, but it doesn’t make sense to not know the rules,” adding, “I have a lot to say, but I think I made the biggest mistake by creating a scene that could have been misunderstood.”
Meanwhile, regarding Fedi’s physical condition, “It has been a long time since he pitched, so fatigue has built up in his shoulder. “Yesterday, in the first and second innings, the pitch was better than usual, and starting in the third inning, I could see that my stamina was declining a little, perhaps because it was my first appearance on the mound in a long time.”
