INSIDE THE JURIDICUM

Inside the building:

It is difficult to find our offices in the building and visitors regularly get lost. There are some directions within the building at the bottom of the page.

BY PLANE

The local airport is Cologne/Bonn (CGN). It has many connections in Europe and is about 30 minutes by Bus/20 minutes by cab. Another local airport is Düsseldorf (DUS), less than 90 minutes by train. There is a direct connection by high speed train to Frankfurt Airport that takes less than 90 minutes to Bonn (including a local connection either by tram or cab).

For local transport: Please use the public transport options wherever it is possible. Limit your use of taxis to the necessary occasions only, since it is very difficult for us to reimburse you for the use of a taxi due to very strict regulations by the University.

COLOGNE BONN AIRPORT (CGN)

The easiest way from Cologne Bonn Airport to downtown Bonn is by bus. The Airport Express Bus SB60 runs up to 3 times per hour between Cologne Bonn Airport and Bonn Hauptbahnhof (Central Station). Services are less frequent on weekends but at least once per hour. The journey takes less than half an hour. You can buy your ticket (8,20€ for adults) either from the bus driver or from the vending machine at the bus stop.

Please see here for bus timetable and airport map.

(A taxi takes approximately 25 minutes depending on traffic and costs 50€. However, we typically cannot reimburse taxis when other options are feasible due to university regulation.)

DÜSSELDORF AIRPORT (DUS)

Traveling from Düsseldorf Airport to Bonn Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) is uncomplicated, too. Regional Express (RE) trains make the journey generally once per hour (.50) in about 65 minutes.

Note: This train connection is often severely delayed due to congestion. Together with the service being only once per hour, this can significantly increase the travel time. The direkt highspeed ICE connection to Frankfurt is more reliable, is faster, and runs more often.

Please refer to the Deutsche Bahn website for the latest departure information. Click here to see the airport map.

FRANKFURT INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (FRA)

Although for travelers to Bonn, Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN) or Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) clearly are the best options, Frankfurt International Airport remains the most important international transit hub in Germany.

There are two train connections:

(i) You can take the highspeed Intercity Express (ICE) from the airport via Siegburg/Bonn. It departs up to three times per hour and it takes just 38 minutes to Siegburg/Bonn. From there you can take the Tram 66, which runs every 10 minutes and needs about 20 minutes to central Bonn and the department.

(A taxi also takes approximately 20 minutes depending on traffic and costs 40€. However, we typically cannot reimburse taxis when other options are feasible, this is due to university regulation.)

(ii) Every two hours (.58), a direct Inter City (IC) train runs between Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) and Bonn Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) in less than 2 hours from Platform 6.

Please refer to the Deutsche Bahn website for the latest departure information. Click here to see the airport map.

SIEGBURG/BONN

If you arrive from southern Germany (Frankfurt, Mannheim, ...) it is probably the most convenient way to take a high-speed train (ICE) to Siegburg/Bonn. At Siegburg, you can take any tram 66. The way to the tram is indicated by blue "U"-Signs. You may leave the tram at Bonn Central Station or proceed two stops further to "Juridicum" - right in front of our institute.

The tram runs every 10 minutes in peak time and every 15-30 minutes off-peak. The journey from Siegburg to Bonn takes about 25 minutes.

BONN CENTRAL STATION

From Bonn Hauptbahnhof (Hbf, Central Station) it only takes a few minutes to get to the Juridicum. From here, follow the instructions BY FOOT.

BY FOOT

From Bonn Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) it takes only a few minutes to get to the Juridicum:

You can either walk the 1km distance to the Juridicum or take the tram 16, 63, 66 direction Bad Godesberg / Ramersdorf / Königswinter / Bad Honnef. Get off at the second stop, “Juridicum” and exit the subway station via the escalators. From here, follow the instructions INSIDE THE JURIDIUM “Entrance Adenauerallee”.

If you choose to walk you will pass the Main Building of the University. It was originally the palatial residence of the prince electors and is now home to the arts and the theological faculties. Together with the adjacent Hofgarten park you will get a beautiful first impression of Bonn.

From here, follow the instructions INSIDE THE JURIDICUM.
