Computer Science Master's Student
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
I am a first-year master’s student at UNC–Chapel Hill studying Natural Language Processing. My research interests lie at the intersection of computational linguistics and psychology, with a focus on how language models communicate emotion and how linguistic choices can contribute to users’ perceptions of relationality.
I am especially interested in mapping the incremental stages of relational projection in human–LLM conversation, pinpointing when and why users come to perceive varying degrees of connection, understanding, or relational closeness with AI systems. My work examines linguistic cues in both human prompts and model responses to identify how these relational dynamics emerge and evolve across sustained dialogue.
More broadly, I am passionate about investigating the psychological and mental health implications of sustained human–AI interaction, with the goal of advancing language technologies that are psychologically safe and emotionally responsible.
Prior to pursuing graduate education, I worked across early-stage AI startups and global technology enterprises, leading product marketing strategy and spearheading business operations initiatives.
In parallel to my career in technology, I have extensive experience in professional storytelling and narrative development. My creative work includes writing and producing a $2 million feature film, producing and showrunning an eight-episode reality television series, and writing and publishing a historical fiction novel.
I hold a B.A. in Economics from Stanford University.
