Plant Physiology course provides students: (1) basic knowledge about the structure and functions of plants at all levels (cells, tissues, organs, bodies), (2) physiological and biochemical processes in molecules (photosynthesis, respiration, mineral exchange, growth and development...) (3) plant response to biotic and abiotic stress.
In the practical part, students will carry out some basic experiments related to morphology, physiological and metabolic processes in plants.
Provide the basics of genetics including: Mendelian and non-Mendelian genetics, genetic basis at the cellular and molecular level of different organisms, mutation, regulation of gene expression, population genetics and evolution. In addition, the subject also deals with human genetics issues and applications in medicine, forensics, agriculture...
The course includes knowledge about traditional and modern plant biotechnology: seeding techniques, asexual propagation techniques (cuttings, layering, grafting) plant tissue culture, plant genetic engineering and edible vaccines. It also covers the application of molecular markers, biosafety and bioethics issues in plant biotechnology.
