Meeting venue

The meeting venue is located on the central ETH campus, 10 min walk from the city center. The meeting room consists of a lecture hall with a connected foyer. Coffee will be served in the foyer.

Welcome Party & Dinner venue

Welcome event and dinner will take place in the “NO building”, either on the roof top (J

floor) or, in case of too severe weather, on G floor. Most doors (“E”) will be closed on

Thursday after 7 pm and all Saturday.

However, one entrance (“focus terra”, marked with an “X” and red arrow on the map under Meeting venue and

the picture below) will be open on Thursday until 21:00 and on Saturday from 16:00 to

21:00.

Transportation

Public transport is well organized and reliable in Zürich and the best way to get around in the city. We do not recommend driving to Zürich as parking is hard to find and expensive. Public transport consists of a network of trams, buses and boats and is run by ZVV. ZVV operates based on a zonal system where zone 110 covers most of Zürich. The airport is located in zone 121. A 24 h day pass is the cost of two single trips and the best option if you plan to use the public transportation more than two times within a 24 h period.

To/From the airport

Tram 10 (direction Bahnhofplatz/Zurich main station) goes directly from the airport to ETH (and the suggested hotels nearby) and takes about half an hour. Follow signs for ‘trams’ at the airport, note that the location is different from that of ‘trains’. Tickets can be bought at the machines at the tram stop outside the airport (credit cards accepted, Fr. 6.80). Tickets cannot be bought on the tram. The meeting venue is located between the stops 'Haldenegg' and 'ETH/Universitätsspital', only a few minutes’ walk from either.

There are several direct flights and train connections (~11h, via Geneva or Paris) from Zürich to Barcelona on Sunday 19 August. The DINGUE activities finish on Saturday 17 August evening and Sunday 18 August is reserved for travelling.

To/From the train station

Zürich main station is only a 10 min walk from the meeting venue (although steep uphill). An alternative to walking is to take Tram 10 towards 'Airport' or 'Oerlikon station' or tram 6 towards the 'Zoo'. Exit the tram at the 'Haldenegg' stop, continue walking in the direction of the tram and the venue will be on your left hand side. Tickets for the tram are bought in the machines at the tram stop. Another alternative is to take the Polybahn funicular from central (a few min walk from the train station) up the hill. Take a left when you get off the Polybahn and you are on Leonhardstrasse, you will see the meeting venue on your right hand side. Tickets for the Polybahn are purchased in the ticket machine right outside the entrance.

As part of your registration fee payment confirmation, you will receive an email with details on how to book the hotels at the discount rate.
