Carl's Jr. Super Bowl Commercial
Introduction: This is a screen shot of a Carl's Jr. commercial that was played at the 2015 Super Bowl. The ad features and sexualized female promoting the new burger on the Carl's Jr. menu. The purpose of this sexualized ad was to entice the audience (fixed towards the male audience) to purchase the new burger. As the ad goes on, the woman is walking down the busy street and appears to be nude. She proceeds to comment on how she like it "all natural" referring to the burger, but it appears she is talking about her not wearing any clothes. At the end of the ad, she is fully shown and it is shown had she actually has a small amount of clothing on and that she is holding a burger.
Why This ad is objectifying woman: This ad is objectifying as well as sexualizing to woman. Throughout the whole ad, this woman appears to be nude, and is being gassed at my those she walks past. These people were obviously not staring at the burger. The woman is causing a distraction by her clothing, or lack there of, and as she walks through the busy street she is talking about the burger. She says things like "I like it all natural" which could easily be misunderstood by watching the ad because until the end of the ad, it appears that the woman is talking about herself being all natural/nude. The ad is using the woman's body to draw in the audience which could be assumed to be predominantly male. Woman should not be cast in an ad simply because of there body. It is disrespectful and downright wrong.
Conclusion: This ad definitely objectified this actress. She was casted for this role simply because o her body. The media has a history of using a woman's body for there own personal gain, rather its for promoting a product or something else. The media does not see a problem with objectifying a woman for there own personal gain, which is very disheartening to know. I truly hope that one day that the media will stop sexualizing and/or objectifying woman to simply advertise or sell a product, especially when said product has absolutely nothing to do with a females body.
