I am currently a postdoctoral fellow and professorial lecturer at the School of International Service at the American University in Washington, DC, US. As part of this employment, I am conjointly working on the completion of my book proposal and journal articles.
Prior to joining American University, I had a mix of both research and teaching positions as follows:
Visiting Scholar, Institute for European Studies, M. Einaudi Centre for International Studies, Cornell University, US.
Research Fellow, Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies on Democracy and Diversity, CRIDAQ, Université du Québec à Montréal, Canada.
Teaching Fellow, Department of Political Studies, Queen’s University, Canada.
Ph.D., Political Studies, Queen’s University, Canada & Centre for the Study of Democracy and Diversity, Laboratory for Ethnic Conflict Research, Queen’s University, Canada.
In line with my interdisciplinary background in politics, economics and philosophy, my teaching and research expertise are in political theory, comparative politics and international affairs. In particular, my teaching and research portfolio (and interests) primarily lie in the politics of MENA, conflict and peace studies, comparative territorial and border politics, Kurdish politics, democratization, ethnic politics, and nationalism, as well as state-minority relations in conflict zones. I am currently conducting qualitative research, but my strong background in economics enables me to integrate quantitative methods, which I am planning to apply to my future research.
