Student Attendance Management System

The applications of Face Recognition Based Attendance System could be considered to be an important tool for various institutions such as school, college and university. In this system, human face is used for marking the attendance automatically.

Traditional checking attendance method requires calling out-loud the name or roll number of students in order to record attendance. This process consumes a lot of time for a lecture that lasts about 60 minutes. To stay away from such losses, an automatic checking attendance process is used in this project which is based on Face Recognition technique.

DESCRIPTION

In this project, we built and set up a complete automatic attendance system including two main module:

Face Recognition and Web Application for management.

The specific operating process of this system is:

  1. The camera will take each frame from the real-time video when it detects that someone has entered the room.

  2. These frames will go through the Facial recognition module using student’ face database that collected and trained before. The output of this module will be student's ID.

  3. This ID will be matched to existing database including students’ information lists and timetables.

  4. Finally, It will automatically update the attendance to the list in the Result Database, you can use Web App to access this database. It is also possible to offer greetings to that student via an small LCD screen.
