The Dignity Not Detention Act (S.316/A.4181) gets New York State out of the business of ICE detention. DND will prevent state and local government entities, like jails, hospitals, or schools, from contracting with ICE to cage immigrants and end contracts that currently exist. The New York For All Act (S.2235/A.3506) would also prohibit any local or state agency from conspiring with ICE.
As ICE terrorizes communities across our state, NY lawmakers must intervene NOW. We can make sure that our state is doing all it can to stop ICE's violence in our communities.
Can we count on Governor Hochul to push for the legislature to reconvene to pass DND and NY for All? Will Governor Hochul commit to signing into law these two bills?
