Gaining technology fluency for young students involves moving beyond simply browsing the internet. Students will learn how to create using digital tools, teaches them online problem solving, and how to communicate appropriately in an online world. Key strategies can include block-based coding, digital story-telling, and utilizing multiple platforms to foster digital citizenship, and ethical, confident, and independent technology navigation.
Fundamental skills: teaching young students to recognize, use and navigate icons
Creation over consumption: encouraging students to build, create, and understand programming
Information Management: understanding how to find, evaluate, and use information across platforms
Adaptability: developing the ability to learn new technologies as they evolve
By focusing on these areas, child develop a "growth mindset" towards technology, viewing it as a tool for expression and learning rather than just entertainment.
