Digital revolution has given artists many new opportunities in the art world. With this new digital world it, it gives artist endless sources of material and inspiration to use for their art pieces. It also allows new artists to emerge that specifically make art with computers and online images. Another advantage that digital revolution has created is the ability for artists to post their work online to reach and inspire people all over the world. This gives artists new opportunities to sell their projects and make a sustainable living.
Damien Hirst is an artist that I thought was interesting and inspiring. Hirst is also an entrepreneur and art collector. He is reportedly the United Kingdom's richest living artist, with his wealth estimated at $384 million. He is know for conceptual art, installation art, and sculpture, Death is usually the central theme in Hirst's works. He became famous for a series of artworks in which dead animals (including a shark, a sheep and a cow) are preserved, sometimes having been dissected, in formaldehyde. Different from his usual artwork, Hirst created this piece inspired by Micky Mouse in 2012 called Mickey. This piece was a household gloss on canvas painting.
This is my own version of Damien Hirst's, Mickey, painting. I traced circular objects an used colored pencils to color. I like this piece because Mickey Mouse is a timeless character, and you can recognize who it is solely on color.
