Curriculum Collaborations
"Digital citizenship is not about creating a list of things to do or a stagnant curriculum that you can use for the next 10 years. It's about transforming yourself into a professional who can effectively research technology trends, monitor the uses of technology in your school or district, avoid the fear factor that can easily paralyze you, and empower student-centered learning to create vibrant, exciting learning projects." Vicki Davis & Julie Lindsey
The teacher-created lessons posted to this page represent a sampling of what we anticipate to be a growing, dynamic list of core curriculum connections to digital citizenship themes. It is our hope that these resources will help teachers to weave this important life skill - the 5th C of 21st century skills - into subjects they are already teaching.
If you are weaving digital citizenship into your curriculum, we would love to include your resources and projects! For ideas on how teachers are making cross-curricular connections, check out our presentation from the 2012 K12Online Conference.
We have designed the graphic organizer listed below to help structure and facilitate student discourse on the common threads that connect current issues of digital citizenship to themes, events, and characters students will encounter in grade-level curriculum, adopted textbooks, and mandated school programs
