Digital Interface: Professional Practices with Instructor Christine Shallenberg

A collaborative art piece  will be presented as a digital picture. We decided on a musical theme: 'Rhythms of the City'.

Much like music, this collaborative piece will work off the rythms of each artist work to form a composition. Our group will work on a piece and pass it onto one another to as we add our own take on what rythms of the city mean to us, respond and complement one another.

I came to Chicago with an idea that I would work on commissioned work while I was here. Assaf was clearly not pleased and asked what kind of work you would be doing if you didnt have to do this?

This was one of the first painting that I decided to play around with. It's an image that my son made. It was a piece was a part of a series of work designed to improve his mental health.

This is also an attempt to create some freedom. Starting with a beat or a visual rhythm as a foundation. Thinking of my process in a very musical way

Then I started to think about what Assaf said and literally started to play and experiment. Although I'm not sure how far I have taken it was my attempt at some level of complete freedom.

More work I brought down from New Orleans. A children's book about BB king that I super behind on. I want to be remembered for my paintings and sculpture. So, it is important to be able to create work that is not traditional children's book illustrations but more an extension of my painting practice

Considering what a musical meditation could be. I began to explore a collaboration I did with several local New Orleans musicals. I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to release it or use ideas from it to fuel more collaborations with musicians
