The Kommondomon carrying The Elemental Four ended up at World For Us All HQ. It was a large base that was great in width and height. From above, the building's shape resembled the Digivice from Kari and Izzy's digidestined team. The building itself existed outside of any universe. It existed in the inter-space of The Mother Universe. It floated on top of a massive rock. On the front of a building, a large door lifted up. It looked like the door of a garage or airplane hanger. Kommondomon landed on the surface of the big rocky thing and then ran through the open door before it closed behind him.
Inside, there were several other Kommondomon just chilling out. The room they ended up in really was like a garage of sorts. There were tool kits, computers, wrenches, saws, and of course, gigantic bags of dog food everywhere. Inside of the Kommondomon that just landed, the Digidestined were distraught. Martin was looking down at his lap with a really sad expression on his face. "Taylor…I still can't believe we lost her." Martin said. Zoe was sitting next to him. She placed her hand on Martin's shoulder. "We'll go see Izzy. He should be able to pinpoint her location within the multiverse, or at least narrow down the general area. Non preoccuparti." Zoe said. Martin stood up and turned around, and glared at Zoe angrily, clenching both of his fists. "Don't you try to console me! This is all your fault! If you hadn't unleashed that attack, Owarimon wouldn't have pulled Taylor off of Kommondomon!" Martin shouted. Naturemon walked over to Martin and placed a hand on each of his arms. She wasn't sure if he was about to hit her or what. "Martin, calm down." Naturemon said. Martin jerked away from Naturemon. "No, I won't calm down! Taylor was my friend! The first friend I made when I moved to Japan! And…." Martin said angrily. He then remembered what Jessica told him about telling Taylor how he felt about her. "...And I had something I really wanted to tell her….and now I might not ever get that chance."
Naturemon hugged Martin from behind and nuzzled her face up against his shoulder. "We all care about Taylor, Marty Hearty. But yelling at Zoe makes you a meanie and doesn't fix anything." Naturemon said. Coalmon got up from the U shaped couch and rolled over to one of the exit doors. She turned back and looked at Martin. "Naturemon is right. Now, let's go see Izzy and tell him what happened." Coalmon said. "Maybe he'll have something for us to eat. I'm starving!" Dovemon said.
Kari walked over to Martin and placed her hand on his shoulder. "You know, back in my day, we would get separated often. We would worry about each other, sure. But we always made it out on top. This one time, I was certain my brother had been killed. We had been fighting a Digimon that had been corrupted named Meicoomon. During the course of a three way battle between my brother's and brother in law's Omnimon, Jessmon, and Raguelmon, the ground split opened and swallowed my brother whole. I was so full of despair and grief that I caused my Digimon to dark digivolve into Ophanimon Falldown Mode. She fused with Raguelmon and DNA Digivolved into Ordinemon. My fear and despair just caused an already bad situation to become worse. And you know what? Tai was just fine. He reunited with us and we took down Ordinemon together. We even managed to save my Gatomon." Kari said.
Martin wasn't looking her in the eye when she spoke. He was looking down at the ground. But when she finished, he looked up at her in the eye. "You're saying that my negative emotions might make this situation worse?" He said. "I'm saying to have faith in Taylor. She's probably in one of the universes she was falling towards. We just have to find her. Also, we at World For Us All have researched lots of Digidestined teams in the multiverse and if there's one thing I've learned, it's that goggle heads always find a way to pull through." Kari replied.
Everyone then exited the Kommondomon and went inside the base's main lobby. The walls and ceiling were decorated in a circuitboard pattern with 1s and 0s flashing all around. There were lots of photographs hanging on the wall of past Digidestined members when they were children. One photo on the wall had a picture of Marcus Damon, Yoshino Fujieda, and Thomas Norshtein when they were 14, 14, and 18 respectively, with their Digimon Partners; Agumon, Lalamon, and Gaomon. Another photo was of the Adventure Digidestined and their Digimon, taken right after the defeat of Apocalymon. An elderly Gennai was in the photo as well as a Mechanorimon and a Centarumon. And another photo had a picture of Davis and Veemon giving the peace sign.
They walked into the center of the lobby room. There appeared to be something that looked like a sign in desk. At the desk sat a blonde man with blue eyes, and a Terriermon sitting in his lap, and a Lopmon sitting on his shoulder. "So, The Elemental Four have finally arrived! I'll contact Mirei and tell her to start the tour." Said the man at the desk. Kari frowned. "Sorry, Willis, but showing them around will have to wait. We have a problem." Kari responded. Willis was the name of the man sitting behind the desk. He was a Digidestined from America in the same universe as Kari. She had met Willis when they were children. Back then, Willis was having some issues with his partner; Lopmon. "What's wrong? What happened?" Willis asked. "There's only three of them, Willis. Obviously, one of them must be using the bathroom." the Terriermon sitting in his lap said. "Or maybe we were all miscounting this entire time? Maybe we should go back to the beginning for a recount." Lopmon said.
Kari and Gatomon explained everything that happened. Willis nodded with a serious expression on his face. "I see. I'll contact Izzy right away." Willis said. He did so, and the group went into Izzy's computer lab which was on the basement floor. They used an elevator to get there.
Izzy was typing away on his computer, mumbling to himself, thinking out loud. "Ok, so if I recalibrate the…no, that will just…ohh.." The three remaining of The Elemental Four, Kari, and Zoe, as well as their Digimon walked up behind him. Tentomon flew over to Izzy and poked him in the shoulder. "Izzy, you have guests." Tentomon said. Izzy turned around to greet them. "Oh, great! You're here! Listen, I think I know a way to find Taylor. I just need you to tell me what time it was when Owarimon's attack occured. I can then use the program in Kommondomon's travel log database to pinpoint the general cluster of universes we need to be searching in." Izzy said.
"How do you even measure time in a place like this?" Dovemon asked.
"Well, technically, time is meaningless here. However, when we all moved into this base, we decided to sync the clocks of every computer, watch, etc. in this base to the hour and minute of your universe." Izzy explained.
"I think it was about noon when we departed." Naturemon said.
"And it probably was only 15 minutes into our journey that we were attacked." Drusilla said.
Martin looked at the both of them with an upset expression. "You think? Probably? We need to KNOW for CERTAIN when all this happened!" Martin exclaimed.
"Calm down, Martin. Kommondomon's helmet has a security camera. If I check it in conjunction with the travel log, I'll know for sure if it's accurate." Izzy said.
"Then let's get cracking!" Tentomon said.
The group sat in the computer room for several minutes as Izzy typed away on the computer. Izzy pulled up the travel log of Kommondomon, and then he pulled up the security footage with the time stamp of 12:15 PM. And just like Naturemon and Drusilla had said, this was when Owarimon attacked them. "Prodigious! 12:15 PM is the right time after all!" Izzy said enthusiastically. Izzy then did some more typing. He brought up a computer program with lots of different circles. But they came in sets of two; two circles connected to each other. Each were numbered. "What's that?" Dovemon asked. "Looks like a bubble bath." Naturemon observed. Izzy turned around and looked at them, his right arm resting on the computer desk. "This is a map of the multiverse. Each universe on this map is numbered. In the vast multiverse, each and every one has a version of the Digital World attached to it. No one knows just how many universes there are. Maybe billions or trillions. Maybe an infinite number. But Taylor fell in this cluster right here." Izzy said, turning around to face his computer again so he could point at the multiverse map. The different bubbles had text inside of them. "316, 317, 318, 319." Izzy pointed at the four universes in that local region. "Universes 316, 317, 318, and 319 are our candidates. To speed up time, I recommend sending out multiple groups of two to search for them. Keep in mind that any one universe is incredibly vast in and of itself. Even though I've narrowed our search down, it will still require a miracle to find her." Izzy explained.
"We have to try. All four of them are needed in the worst case scenario." Kari said.
"What's the worst case scenario?" Naturemon asked.
"If Owarimon digivolves to the Mega level, she'll be too powerful for even Digimon like Susanoomon or Omnimon Merciful Mode to stop." Kari replied.
Martin looked down, distraught. He clenched his fists and grit his teeth. He was wondering if Taylor was lost forever. Would they ever find her? Even if they made it the right universe, there were billions of planets in those universes. It was STILL like finding a needle in a haystack. Had he waited too late to tell Taylor how he felt? Martin then felt bad for focusing so much on that. After all, the fate of trillions of lives are at stake. Unless all four of the Digidestined are together, their Digimon could never become Harmonymon again. And if they can't become Harmonymon again, then should Owarimon reach her final form, they're finished. Naturemon looked over at Martin with a concerned look on her face. She knew better than anyone how much Martin cared about Taylor.
They all decided to visit the universes in groups of two. Martin and Zoe would visit universe 316, Drusilla and Emmett would visit universe 317, and the other two would be investigated by World For Us All Field agents; Marcus Damon and Rika Nonaka for universe 318, and Yoshino Fujieda and Takato Matsuki for universe 319. Everyone went down to the base's garage and entered one of the interdimensional travel Kommondomon Izzy had made. Then, they took off.
Once Drusilla and Emmett's Kommondomon had made it to Universe 317, they walked out of the Kommondomon. Drusilla and Emmett looked around. They were in a forest, and some Tanemon and Palmon were playing around nearby. Emmett looked over to the playing, frolicking Digimon and smiled. "Yep. This is the Digital World alright. Or I guess at this point, we should say *a* Digital World." Emmett said. Dovemon's holy ring fell off of her waist again. She bent down and pulled it up to readjust it. Then she looked up at Emmett, who was standing to her right. "How do you know this isn't a world where Digimon and humans live alongside each other like in our universe?" Dovemon asked. Emmett looked down at his Digimon and raised an index finger and smiled. "Well, for one thing, the Kommondomon was instructed to take us to a Digital World. We're to search here first before searching this universe's physical world. Secondly…" Emmett said before looking up and pointing up towards the sky. They all looked up and what they found was that the sky had a teal blue circuit board pattern all across it. The clouds in the sky were black instead of white, and they all had 1s and 0s flashing on them. "If that doesn't scream 'digital', then I don't know what does!" Emmett said. Drusilla nodded with an expressionless look on her face. "Yep. Kind of reminds me of the inside of an old 90s computer my mom showed me once." Drusilla said. Emmett looked over to her and laughed. "Man, those things are soooo ancient!" He said.
Dovemon and Coalmon were fascinated. Their own version of the Digital World didn't have a sky like this. Their own Digital World just had an ordinary looking sky. "So I guess different Digital Worlds look different." Coalmon said. "And that means that even though we're Digimon, we can't rely on our knowledge of the Digital World to guide us. Not that we're experts anyway, being fragments of a month old Digi-Goddess." Dovemon said. Everyone then looked forward, ahead of them, after their necks started to cramp from looking up.
Kommondomon nudged the four of them with his huge nose, indicating that he wanted them to proceed with searching for Taylor. Drusilla looked back at the cyborg dog Digimon and smiled at him. "You want us to get a move on, don't you boy? You're so cute! Yes you are! You stay right here until we weturn!" Drusilla said, giving a bright smile descending into baby talk. Coalmon put her rocky hand over her mouth and pretended to clear her throat. Drusilla realized she had accidentally dropped her cool goth chick facade and turned to look at Dovemon, Emmett, and Coalmon. She was blushing, looking kind of embarrassed. She cleared her throat and then turned to the Kommondomon again. "I-I mean, don't do anything stupid while we're gone, kay? Like, don't chase a Squirrelmon or anything. I'll be really ticked if we can't find you." Drusilla said, now in a more monotonous tone. Kommondomon gave an affirmative bark.
The four of them began walking through the forest. Emmett leaned in close to Drusilla, who was to his left. He had a big smirk on his face. "So, guess you're a dog lover, huh?" He teased. Drusilla blushed while scowling. She quickly looked him in the eye and then looked away. "They're kinda cute, I suppose." She said. "I would have pegged you as a cat lover, given you were raised with a BlackGatomon. In fact, I suspected you had a huge crush on Martin." Emmett said, still smirking. Drusilla turned to look him. Both her arms were by her sides, fists clenched. She scowled and blushed. "I-I-I do not! What are you even talking about!?" Drusilla asked. Emmett then burst out laughing. "Relax! I'm only joking! We all know you really only have eyes for me." He said. "What did you say!?" Emmett folded his arms behind his head. His smirk never left his face. "I'm still only teasing you. Getting all flustered like that is so not cool." Emmett said, using her own catchphrase on her.
"To be honest, I don't know much about you. We haven't spent much time together except for when you and the others needed me to fight." Emmett said.
"And…you'd like to get to know me better?" Drusilla said.
"Well, sure." Emmett replied.
Dovemon and Coalmon looked at each other. "We pretty much already know each other. We're practically the same being aren't we?" Dovemon asked. Coalmon didn't look so sure. "Maybe…but after Harmonymon split, we all kind of took on our personalities. Honestly, Naturemon is the one most like what we originally were." Coalmon said.
"Hey, that's right! She is quite affectionate, gentle, kind, and loving. And in her Champion form, she treats smaller Digimon like they're her own children. I remember when Kari told us about her sons, we wanted to become a mother ourselves. Perhaps Naturemon retains most of the original personality of Harmonymon." Dovemon said.
"Interesting, I wonder if the original Harmonymon would have been a fan of Jimmy KEN." Coalmon said.
Something then occurred to Dovemon; she should try to search from the air! He told Drusilla and Emmett this and they agreed that this was a good plan. So, Dovemon flew up high into the air and looked around. "Taylor! TAAAAYLOOOOR! Where are you, Taylor!?" Dovemon shouted. Knowing Taylor, Dovemon thought, she was probably in her mermaid form in some ocean somewhere. A forest would probably be the last place Taylor and Sharkmon would be. Drusilla and Emmett looked around while walking, their hands up to their mouths to further the range their voices could reach. "TAYLOR!" "SHARKMON!" "TAAAALOORRRRR!!!!" "SHAAARRRKMOOONN!" They called out. Dovemon then started feeling severe hunger pangs in her belly. Down below, Coalmon was feeling hunger pangs too. She looked very uncomfortable. She rolled over to Drusilla and poked her in the leg. "Drusilla, I'm hungry." Coalmon said. "Lunch will have to wait. We have to find Taylor." Drusilla rebutted. Dovemon flew down and landed in front of Drusilla. She looked up at her and put both of her wings over her tummy. "I'm hungry too, Drusilla. And if you recall, we Digimon can't digivolve when we're hungry. If we were attacked, we'd be in big trouble." Dovemon explained. Drusilla furrowed her eyebrows and lowered her head while sighing. "You have a point. Getting killed by an evil Digimon would be so not cool." She said.
The four walked, trying to simultaneously look for Taylor and Sharkmon, and find something to eat at the same time. They eventually came across a town. "A town!" Emmett observed. "But, it looks like a ghost town." Drusilla said. Indeed, there was nary a Digimon in sight. Frightened facial expressions came across both Dovemon's and Coalmon's faces. They quickly embraced each other, looking off to the side in the direction of the empty town. "G-G-G-G-G-GHOSTS!?" They exclaimed in unison. Drusilla turned around and looked down at the hugging Digimon. "Relax. Ghost Town just means no one is here." She explained. This calmed the two down a bit and they released one another from the embrace. "I'll bet we could find something to eat here." Emmett said, pushing up on the glasses on his face. Drusilla turned from looking at their Digimon to looking at the town again. She placed a hand on her left hip and said. "Yeah, let's just hope none of it's expired." She said.
Overhead, a group of black winged Digimon were flocking together, hovering in place in the air, looking down at the children. These Digimon are called SoundBirdmon. The SoundBirdmon were transmitting visual and auditory information to a remote location, namely a dark, gothic looking castle a mile away. Inside, a Mephistomon sat on the floor with his legs crossed. Mephistomon is a bi-pedal fallen angel Digimon with furry purple legs and hooves like that of a goat. He has big black wings and goat horns. He was in the middle of a circle made up of Monitamon; a Digimon with a small childlike body and a TV for a head. The Monitamon were showing live video footage of Drusilla, Emmett, Dovemon, and Coalmon. Mephistomon smiled and chuckled menacingly. "Excellent. It seems more prey have fallen into my trap." Mephistomon said before letting out a louder laugh.
Back at the abandoned town, the two children and their Digimon walked, searching for a meal. They were hoping that the town wasn't really completely empty, that there would at least be a few residents, and maybe a restaurant in this town that would serve them. The Holy Ring around Dovemon's waist fell to the ground while she was walking. She bent down, picked it up, and readjusted it around her waist. "Uggh. I really hate this thing sometimes." Dovemon said. Emmett looked down at her and smiled, "Then why don't you chuck it?" He asked. "I can't do that! It's the source of my power!" Dovemon rebutted.
Coalmon nervously looked around. She had this sneaking feeling they were being watched. Then her tummy growled again. Coalmon thought to herself that they needed to find something to eat fast. If this sneaking feeling of hers was more than just a feeling, they might need to digivolve. At least to Champion, maybe even to Ultimate.
Just then, a huge fog came in! It completely took over the town in the span of a few mere seconds! Everyone was looking all around in different directions with worried looks on their faces. What was happening? "This fog doesn't seem like a normal fog." Drusilla said. "Yeah, it came up way too fast." Emmett said. The fog got so thick that they could no longer see each other. Emmett grabbed Dovemon's wing so they wouldn't get separated from each other. "Let's all hold hands so we don't get separated." Emmett said. He reached out for Drusilla, who should have been right in front of her, but all he grabbed was just air and fog. Drusilla had taken a few steps forward. She turned back and reached out for Emmett, but she too, just grabbed air and fog. The fog was so thick nothing could be seen for more than a few inches beyond one's face. Drusilla picked up Coalmon and decided to carry her in her arms. "Let's go on ahead without them. Maybe we can regroup when the fog lifts." Drusilla said. "Sounds good to me." Coalmon said.
Drusilla walked a little bit, and then the fog cleared dramatically. Although it still lingered to some extent, she could see much farther out than she previously could. Ahead of her were a group of humans, all clinging to the side of a building, staring at Drusilla in fear. They were trembling. Drusilla looked surprised. "Humans? What are-" She was going to ask what humans were doing in the Digital World, and then she noticed how fearful they looked. Her pleasantly surprised facial expression fell dour. "Hey, what's wrong?" She asked. "Humans? I don't see any humans." Coalmon observed. A middle aged woman in the middle shouted. "STAY AWAY! I won't let you drain my blood dry like you did my sister's!" She shouted. Drusilla looked confused. What was this woman talking about? She just happened to look down in a puddle and saw her reflection. Somehow, the goat like horns on her head had returned, as had her fangs! In shock, Drusilla dropped Coalmon, leaving her to hit the ground with a thud! Drusilla looked back behind her to see that her forked tail had also returned. "H-h-how!? Mom told me that once 24 hours had passed, these would be gone forever!" Drusilla said. Coalmon looked up at Drusilla confused. Coalmon couldn't see the humans nor Drusilla's devil-like features (other than her batlike wings which she's had since birth). "What are you talking about, Drusilla?" Coalmon asked. "Don't you see my horns and tail!?" Drusilla asked.
One of the humans in the crowd was a little boy. He was crying loudly and clinging to the woman in the center by the shirt. "Mommy! Don't let the monster eat me!" He shouted. The group of people all took out garlic and wooden stakes.
"Come any closer and you're finished!"
"Yeah, you won't find your next meal here!"
"Go away, you monster!"
"This town is empty because you've drained the blood dry of every man, woman, and child here!"
Drusilla looked at the people in horror. She was trembling from head to toe. Her legs were shaking so badly that she thought she might collapse to the ground. "N-n-n-no! You have it all wrong! I've never even been here before!" Drusilla said, trying to defend herself. Drusilla thought these people might be mistaking her for some other Devillian child who went through the ritual of trying to obtain their tail and horns through the ritual of drinking the blood of 100 victims before the 24 hours had passed. She was fearful that these people would try to attack her. If they did that, then what would she do? These were just scared innocent people. She couldn't have Coalmon fight them. Coalmon looked even more confused. "Drusilla, have you lost it? Who are you talking to?" Coalmon asked. Suddenly, a man appeared from behind her. It seemed like he appeared out of thin air. It was Dracula; Drusilla's grandfather! Dracula placed his hand gently on Drusilla's shoulder. "Oh my! It looks like the horror of what you've done has caused you to block the memory. You have indeed been here. You have indeed drunk the blood of all this town's inhabitants." Dracula said.
"Dracula!? Impossible! You're dead!" Drusilla shouted. Coalmon's eyes widened in a flash with surprise. "D-D-Dracula!?" Coalmon shouted. "Oh, but I'm very much alive, Drusilla. And you have made me so proud. Now you're a full fledged Devillian…unlike your bleeding heart mother and grandmother who babble on about the value of life." Dracula said. Drusilla placed her hands on her head and dropped to her knees. This couldn't be real. This couldn't be true. But how could she know? "No. I saw MagnetGolemon kill you on Devillis." Drusilla said while wincing with her hands on her head. Dracula got down on one knee and lifted Drusilla's face up gently with her hand. "That was probably just a dream you had while you were out. After such a great slaughter, you collapsed. You were so stuffed. You were in a food coma for 3 days. That's probably when you dreamed that." Dracula said. Drusilla's mind began to fill with doubts. Was this true? Was everything she experienced after going to Devillis just a dream? Had she taken innocent lives? Maybe she wasn't a kind and good Devillian like her mother is. Maybe she's one of the bad ones Zai talked about.
Coalmon was visibly concerned, extremely concerned. She didn't know why Drusilla was talking to people who weren't there. What was she getting so freaked out about? "Why can't I see what she sees?" Coalmon thought aloud.
Elsewhere, Emmett walked around with Dovemon. "Hey! Drusilla! Drusilla, where are you!?" Emmett called out as he walked, looking back and forth in both directions. "Yo! Coalmon! Where you at, girl!?" Dovemon shouted. Emmett and Dovemon suddenly came upon a huge hospital. They wondered if there were people inside and maybe they had seen Drusilla, so they walked in and looked around. Sure enough, there were lots of people. "There ARE people in here!" Emmett said before realizing that they were in the Digital World and seeing other humans was a strange sight. At least it should be in this version of it, albeit, not the one back home. Dovemon put her wing up to her beak and tilted her head in confusion. "I think you might need stronger glasses, Emmett. I don't see any people here." Dovemon observed. Indeed. Although they both could see a hospital lobby, only Emmett could see people in the lobby. Just as Drusilla could only see the people who were scared of her over in her location.
One of the doctors walked up to them with a look of dread upon his face. He looked down at Emmett and asked, "Are you family of Emily Liberty?" He asked. Emmett looked surprised. "Y-yes. I'm her son." He said. How did this doctor know his mother's name? They were in the Digital World which wasn't even connected to their own physical world? The doctor bowed his head and frowned. He grasped his clip board tightly. "I'm….I'm so sorry. Your mother was in a terrible car accident." He said, pausing before finishing. "She didn't make it." Emmett's eyes widened in surprise, fear, and worry. He ran down the hallway of the hospital. Dovemon followed from behind. "Emmett! What's wrong? Who were you talking to? Where are you going?" She asked. Emmett continued running. He then burst into a room where his mother was lying on a ventilator. She had a couple of IVs in her and there were surgeons standing all around her. She was badly bloodied up and she was connected to a heart monitor that showed she had flat lined. Emmett was horrified. He ran over to the stretcher where the surgeons had worked on her and leaned over his mother. "Mom! MOM!!!! PLEASE! PLEASE DON'T LEAVE!" He shouted, tears gushing down his face. One of the surgeons placed his hand on Emmett's shoulder. "I'm so sorry. We did everything we could." He said. Emmett was unconsolable. "No! Not again! Not again!" He shouted. He had flashbacks of seeing his father take his last breath in a hospital bed after a long battle with cancer. "MOM, I CAN'T LOSE YOU LIKE I LOST DAD!" He screamed as tears streamed down his face and dripped on Emily's bloody corpse.
Dovemon flew over to Emmett, visibly concerned about him. She planned on pecking him in the head. In her eyes, Emmett was freaking out and crying over an empty stretcher. "Emmett! Snap out of it! You're acting like a crazy person!" She shouted. "MY MOTHER IS DEAD!" Emmett screamed, before banging the railing of the stretcher with his fist. When Dovemon got close enough, her Holy Ring lit up! It shined so brightly that it illuminated the entire room!
Before Emmett's very eyes, the corpse of his mother disappeared as did all the surgeons in the room. Emmett looked back at Dovemon and asked "What did you do?" Dovemon tilted her head in confusion. "Well, you were acting crazy; talking to people who aren't here, and crying over that empty stretcher there." Dovemon said. "Wait, you mean I was hallucinating all of that?" Emmett asked. "If hallucinating means seeing things that aren't there and acting like a crazy person because of it, then yes." Dovemon replied. Still being a pretty young Digimon, she was still in the process of building her vocabulary.
Emmett looked very confused. He momentarily took his glasses off to wipe the tears from his eyes. Dovemon was still hovering in place, flapping her wings. "Think about it, Emmett. What would your mother be doing here in a Digital World entirely different from the one stuck to our own universe?" Dovemon said. Emmett put his glasses back on and smiled. He felt an immense sense of relief come over him. "You're right, Dovemon. Someone or something must be causing illusions." Emmett said as he began to exit the hospital room. Dovemon perched herself on Emmett's shoulder. Then she gasped and pointed over to a vending machine. "Look!" She said. Emmett walked over to the Vending Machine and took out his wallet, looking for coins to put in it. "Let's see…." He said as he rummaged through his wallet. He got out a dollar and tried to put it in. Unfortunately, the machine kept spitting it out to Emmett's frustration. Dovemon took a bow. "Allow me, Emmett." She said. "Feather Darts!" Dovemon's attack shattered the glass. Emmett looked scared. "Dovemon! That's stealing!" He shouted. "Please. This is an emergency, this place is abandoned, and for all we know this entire town might be one big illusion." Dovemon said. Dovemon grabbed as many snacks as she could. She opened one bag and chowed down on its contents. Emmett picked up the rest to take to Coalmon.
Back in the location of Drusilla and Coalmon, Drusilla continued shaking on the ground. "I did kill them….didn't I? I'm….I'm a monster! I'm a bloodthirsty killer!" Drusilla said out loud as tears streamed down her face. Dracula had convinced Drusilla that she really did drink 100 people dry. Dracula took Drusilla and embraced her. "There, there my dear granddaughter. It was all for the best." He said.
Drusilla then heard footsteps. She turned around and saw an angry mob had formed. "Demon!" "Monster!" "Abomination!" they all chanted. They were carrying guns, torches, and pitch forks. Drusilla got up and started running away. Coalmon rolled after her. "Drusilla! Where are you going!?" She asked as she rolled. Tears streamed down Drusilla's face as she ran. Guilt and dread consumed her. "How can I ever face my mother again after what I've done?" She thought to herself. Emmett and Dovemon were running nearby. For them, the fog had completely lifted. They turned the corner just at the same time Drusilla did, which caused them to ram into each other and fall on their butts. Emmett smiled. "Drusilla! I found you!" He said. He then noticed that Drusilla was crying. "Hey! What's wrong?" Emmett and Dovemon asked in unison. Drusilla looked back and saw the angry mob closing in on her. Drusilla screamed and got back up, running past Emmett and Dovemon. "Please! Don't kill me! I want to live!" She shouted. "So did my brother!" One of the men in the angry mob retorted. Emmett looked over to Dovemon and Dovemon looked over at him. They both inferred what was going on. "She must be seeing illusions too. Can you free her with your Holy Ring?" Emmett said. "I'll try. Although I'm not sure how I did it the first time." Dovemon replied. Coalmon hadn't rolled after Drusilla after they had rammed into their friends. She was just sitting there, looking worried about her partner. "Is that what's happening?" Coalmon asked. Emmett nodded.
Emmett and Dovemon chased Drusilla down. The illusion of the angry mob had backed Drusilla into an ally. It was a dead end. Drusilla dropped to the floor and she cried harder. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry for what I've done! Please don't hurt me!" She screamed. There was nowhere to run. Emmett and Dovemon phased through the illusions and ran up to Drusilla. Emmett put a hand on both of Drusilla's shoulders. On a scale from 1 to 10 on the freaking out meter, she was a 12! "Drusilla! Drusilla! Calm down! Please!" Emmett said. "The mob! The family of the victims! They want revenge!" Drusilla shouted. She was writhing a bit trying to get out of Emmett's grasp. She didn't want to be touched. "Revenge? Revenge for what?" Emmett asked. "I killed them! I killed them all! Dracula took me to Devillis and told me that if I drank the blood of 100 humans, I'd keep my Devillian powers forever, and that's what I did!" Drusilla said through her tears. "That's a lie! Zai and Flora told me that all you did was suck a small amount from one person. Listen to me! You're not a killer! You're a good person!" Emmett said. "How can you say that? You don't know me!" Drusilla rebutted. Emmett was quiet for a moment. He frowned. Drusilla was beginning to hyperventilate. "It's true we're not really close, but…I can sense that you have a gentle soul inside you. Just like my mother." Emmett said.
"You're a monster!"
"You're a devil!"
"Just die, you abomination!" shouted people in the mob.
Drusilla's tears did not cease flowing, and her hyperventilation got worse. "Don't…you….hear…what…they're saying…about me?" Drusilla asked, having a hard time speaking because of her hyperventilation. Emmett held Drusilla in his embrace. "I wouldn't believe them even if I could." He said. Dovemon was doing her best, but eventually, her Holy Ring shone all the fog away and made the illusions vanish.
Emmett reached over and grabbed the paper bag which they used to store their snacks and dumped all of the snacks out. He handed the bag to Drusilla and instructed her to slowly breathe in and breathe out. He never stopped holding her. Drusilla then noticed that the fog and all the angry people were gone. She asked what had happened to them. "They were all illusions." Dovemon said. Drusilla then realized that she had been deceived. She really wasn't responsible for anyone's death. "I get it. Whatever this fog thing was, it played on our biggest fears." Drusilla said, momentarily taking her face out of the bag to talk before going back to breathing in and out of it to recover from hyperventilation. Coalmon ate the snacks in the meantime.
Suddenly, they heard a loud masculine voice shout, "What a smart little girl!" Everyone turned to see Mephistomon standing on the roof of a small building. Emmett took out his Digivice and used the Digimon Analyzer feature; something they usually didn't need because Taylor pretty much was a walking Digimon Analyzer herself. "He's called Mephistomon. He's an Ultimate level fallen angel Digimon. His attacks are Black Sabbath, which recites a dark incantation that causes those that hear it to die, and 'Dark Cloud' which envelope foes and drains away their life energy." Emmett said, reporting the information his Digivice's Digimon Analyzer gave him. Mephistomon cocked his head to one side and then the other. "No need for introductions then, I guess." Mephistomon said.
"Were those illusions caused by you?" Coalmon asked.
"They were. I've absorbed the DigiCores of all the Digimon who used to live in this town. After that, I would monitor the town using my SoundBirdmon who sent live visual and auditory streams to the Monitamon in my castle. Whenever an unwitting traveler like yourself comes along, I cause a fog to appear that makes them see illusions. They experience whatever their greatest fear is. The more fear they exhibit, the faster they die. And the faster they die, the faster I can absorb their data. Soon, I'll be able to digivolve to my final form and take over the Digital World!" Mephistomon monologued.
Drusilla and Emmett looked angry. They both stood up and clenched their fists. "How horrible!" Drusilla shouted. "Yeah!" Emmett agreed. The two children took out their D-Ecos and pointed it at their Digimon. "Coalmon…" Drusilla began, "Dovemon…" Emmett continued. "Digivolve!" They finished in unison.
The word "DIGIVOLUTION" scrolled across both of their digivices and then light shot out of the digivices and enveloped Coalmon and Dovemon.
"Coalmon digivolve to….CoalGolemon!"
"Dovemon digivolve to….Harpymon!"
Harpymon and CoalGolemon came at Mephistomon with gusto! "Wind Seeker!" Harpymon shouted, flapping her wings to create a vacuum blade to cut the enemy. "Molten Blast!" CoalGolemon shouted as molten lava shot out of both of her arms. Mephistomon flew up into the air to dodge. "So, you're digidestined! Only Digidestined can cause Digimon to digivolve on command. I mustn't let you stand in my way." Mephistomon said. Mephistomon then swung both of his arms outward. When he did so, the thick fog came back. Emmett and Drusilla both looked worried. "The fog!" They both exclaimed in unison.
Harpymon flew at Mephistomon. "Wind Seeker! Wind Seeker! Wind Seeker! Wind Seeker!" She shouted as she attacked over and over. She flapped her wings and created a big gust of wind that would cut the opponent if it hit, and she did this four consecutive times. Mephistomon dodged three of the attacks, but got hit by that last one, taking some damage. "Black Sabbath!" Mephistomon shouted.
"Oh! I love that band!" Drusilla said. "I don't think Ozzy's going to make an appearance." Emmett said.
Mephistomon put his hands together as though praying and sat with his legs crossed. He started chanting something in a foreign language. Harpymon circled around and flew up to Mephistomon. "Silent Symphony!" She shouted, firing destructive supersonic waves from her mouth. Mephistomon got hit and grunted in pain. His attack had been interrupted. Harpymon looked over to CoalGolemon and said "We mustn't let him use that attack. It'll mean instant death for all of us!" CoalGolemon nodded. She then jumped up and started punching Mephistomon with her large rocky arms over and over. "Mega Coal Clobber! Mega Coal Clobber! Mega Coal Clobber! Mega Coal Clobber!" She shouted. Mephistomon grunted and yelled as he got hit with each attack.
"Dark Cloud!" Mephistomon shouted, raising his hand and causing a black cloud to envelop CoalGolemon. CoalGolemon grunted in pain as she took major damage. Harpymon flew up and was about to strike Mephistomon again, but he knocked her back with his arm. She landed on a nearby rooftop.
Meanwhile, Drusilla and Emmett were reliving their worst fears. In front of Drusilla, her mother Zai appeared. Zai was crying. She took a few steps towards Drusilla. "Drusilla! How could you! How could you even think of drinking a human's blood! I'm so disappointed in you!" Zai said. Then, behind Zai, the angry mob appeared again. "No…this is all an illusion! It's not real!" Drusilla said. One of the people in the mob swung a pitch fork at Drusilla and knocked her down. Mephistomon saw that and laughed. Looking down at the girl, he said, "Maybe not, but they're real enough to be dangerous. If you believe they're real, they can hurt you." Mephistomon then began punching and kicking Harpymon over and over while CoalGolemon had her life energy drained out of her in the black cloud. The angry mob jabbed their pitchforks and swung their torches in Drusilla's direction. Drusilla jumped back to evade each of them. "We'll burn you to a crisp, monster!" An elderly man in the mob said. "It's a lie, I haven't drank anyone's blood!" Drusilla rebutted. Dracula appeared from behind her and placed her hand on her shoulder. "No, but you will. Your horns and tail may be gone, but the monstrous spirit inside of you will always be there. Face it, you were so thirsty for blood that day that you actually ingested some of it from some poor woman. Now, would a good person do a thing like that?" Dracula asked. Drusilla started having tears go down her face again. She looked down at the ground. "N-no." She said softly.
Emmett meanwhile was hallucinating that he at his mother's funeral. A closed casket was about to be set in the ground, and Lopmon was giving a eulogy. "Emily wasn't just my partner, she was a good friend. I don't know much about the human afterlife, but….I hope that the one in charge of it will reunite me with her someday." Lopmon said before tears started streaming down her cheeks. Lopmon held up Emily's digivice, which was a brown D-Power. "This digivice was hers…and it's something I will always cherish." Lopmon said through her tears. Tears streamed down Martin's face. "Mom, no! Please, no!" Martin dropped to his knees beginning to sob.
CoalGolemon had broken free from Mephistomon's Dark Cloud. She lifted her arms and shouted "Fire Frenzie!" before shooting streams of flames out of her hands. Mephistomon flew up to dodge. "Dark Cloud!" Mephistomon shouted, swinging his arms out and creating another black cloud to envelop CoalGolemon. Harpymon had her back though. She flew up and blew the cloud away with her Wind Seeker attack! She then looked over in Mephistomon's direction and hit him with another Silent Symphony. Mephistomon took more damage. He grunted. Mephistomon knew he was outmatched by these two Digimon, so he raised up his arms and summoned as many SoundBirdmon as he could to his location. When they got there, he swung his arms out and shouted "Dark Cloud!" a black cloud enveloped the SoundBirdmon and destroyed them! CoalGolemon and Harpymon gasped when he did this. "I can always get more where these came from! Right now, I just need to focus on winning this fight!" Mephistomon said. Mephistomon absorbed their data! Then he became a black silhouette with flashing 1s and 0s. Harpymon grit her teeth and flew back a couple of feet. "I don't like the looks of this." Harpymon said. "Mephistomon digivolve to….Gulfmon!"
Mephistomon was now a gargantuan four footed monster with a centaur-like body! "Wind Seeker!" Harpymon attacked. "Molten Blast!" CoalGolemon attacked. Gulfmon just took the attacks like they were nothing. "They had no effect!" CoalGolemon observed. Gulfmon then flapped his wings and caused dark electrical energy to come out of his body! "Black Requiem!" Gulfmon shouted. The black lightning hit Harpymon and CoalGolemon and did a ton of damage! They both screamed in pain as they endured the attack, and then they collapsed. Harpymon looked over to Emmett, who was freaking out over a dead mother who wasn't there. "Emmett! It's your worst fear! You have to overcome it!" She shouted.
CoalGolemon, who was also near to her partner, also tried coaxing her out of seeing Mephistomon's illusions. "Drusilla, your worst fear is that you might be a terrible person, isn't it? Well, it's not true! And until you realize that…even if Harpymon got rid of these illusions, the darkness would still exist inside your heart!" CoalGolemon said.
Emmett clenched his fists and looked down with his eyes closed. "I know it's not real…but my fear is. What if….what if something happens to my Mom? I….I love her so much. I couldn't take it. I'll never forget the pain of losing my dad. I don't ever want to go through that again!" Emmett shouted. Harpymon made her way over to Emmett crawling on her wings and knees. She stood up and leaned on Emmett. Gulfmon's Black Requiem had done a lot of damage to her. "Emmett….I can't promise that nothing bad will ever happen to your mother. But…you can't live your life in constant fear of the 'what ifs'. Enjoy your mother while you have her, and…if something does happen to her….you and I will face it together." Harpymon said. Emmett then looked up, opened his eyes and a determined look came across his face. "You're right!" He said. And then, the fog and illusions disappeared.
CoalGolemon crawled over to Drusilla. Drusilla was hunched over on the ground with her hands over her head. She was crying and trembling. "Drusilla….I recently came across a quote on the internet from some guy named Jordan Peterson. He said 'A harmless man is not a good man. A good man is a very dangerous man who has it under voluntary control'. I was there that day. You did thirst for blood, that's true, but you forced yourself to go without it until your horns and tail disappeared. You had incredible abilities, and yet you didn't hurt a single person. You….are a good girl." CoalGolemon said. Drusilla stood up and wiped the tears from her eyes. A determined look came across Drusilla's face as well. "You're right!" She said, and then the fog and illusions disappeared.
Emmett and Drusila held their digivices up high.
"DIGIVOLUTION"
"Harpymon digivolve to….HolyHarpymon!"
"CoalGolemon digivolve to….MagnetGolemon!"
Emmett and Drusilla looked impressed. They had never seen the Ultimate forms of each other's Digimon before. "That's HolyHarpymon!? She's beautiful!" Drusilla said. "MagnetGolemon looks cool too!" Emmett said.
HolyHarpymon and MagnetGolemon went towards Gulfmon. "Marian Arrows!" HolyHarpymon shouted. She flapped her wings and caused multiple feathers to fall off. The arrows then transformed into arrows of light which were then shot at the enemy. Gulfmon got hit with the attack and grunted. It did a little bit of damage, but nothing really significant. "Black Requiem!" Gulfmon shouted, flapping his wings again and sending out multiple bolts of black lightning. HolyHarpymon dodged all of the bolts while MagnetGolemon deflected them by spewing lava.
"Marian Arrows! Marian Arrows! Marian Arrows! Marian Arrows!" HolyHarpymon shouted. She flapped her wings and caused multiple feathers to fall off. The arrows then transformed into arrows of light which were then shot at the enemy. She did this attack four consecutive times.
"Magma Ball! Magma Ball! Magma Ball! Magma Ball!" MagnetGolemon shouted. She raised her arms above her head and created a huge ball made of magma which she then threw at the enemy. She did this four consecutive times.
Gulfmon got hit with all the attacks and took a moderate amount of damage. He grunted in pain each time an attack hit him. He was so massive and bulky that dodging any of their attacks was out of the question. "Your kids may have overcome their fears, but they will still perish! You'll never be able to stop me!" Gulfmon taunted. HolyHarpymon flew right up to Gulfmon's face. "You're wrong. The power of love and friendship will always vanquish the darkness." HolyHarpymon said. Gulfmon tried to take a swipe at her, but she dodged his arm. She spread her arms out to her side and then moved her arms up above her head. The violet covered rosary around her neck began to glow. "Heaven's Charm!" HolyHarpymon shouted. Then two beams of light in the shape of a cross came out of HolyHarpymon's body and slammed into Gulfmon. The light beams cut through him like butter! Gulfmon screamed in agony as he was sliced vertically in two! Gulfmon disintegrated into digital particles which then….did NOT reformed into a DigiEgg on the ground, but was instead absorbed by a new enemy! He looked like a cyborg human clad in purple armor and had red markings on his skin! He looked a lot like RumikoGizumon! He grinned. "Well done, Digidestined. With a Digimon like Gulfmon…one who has already absorbed so many DigiCores…will surely get Owarimon to digivolve." He said. He then flew off. HolyHarpymon reached out to him. "Wait!" She shouted, but it was too late. He disappeared through a portal. HolyHarpymon then flew down and over to where Emmett and Drusilla were standing.
Drusilla and Emmett were hugging each other in celebration. "We did it! We did it! We did it!" Drusilla cheered. Then she blushed, backed away from Emmett and resumed her cool stoic demeanor. "I mean…job well done. I'm glad that's finally over with." She said, taking a sort of aloof demeanor. Evidently, they didn't see the cyborg man in purple armor absorb Gulfmon. HolyHarpymon decided she would tell them about it in a few minutes. Drusilla looked down at the ground and kicked the dirt. "Emmett….thanks for helping me out back there. The first time, I mean. I….guess you won't think of me as cool after all of that blubbering and screaming I did." Drusilla said. Emmett smiled and pushed up on his glasses. He did one of those closed eyed grins and waved his hand down. "Of course, you're cool, Drusilla! You're the coolest girl I know! And you don't have to put up a front to be cool. Just be yourself." Emmett said. Drusilla looked away and blushed.
"I think now's the time to bring up the fact that some Gizumon type cyborg like RumikoGizumon appeared, absorbed Gulfmon before he had a chance to return to a DigiEgg and escaped through a portal." HolyHarpymon said nonchalantly. They both looked at her and blinked a couple of times, silent for a couple of seconds. Then they shouted "WHAAAAAT!?"
