An 11 year old girl wearing an aquamarine short sleeved shirt, blue shorts, red shoes, and aquamarine socks stood up looking out at the ocean on a beach. She had short brown hair and the ends of her hair curled up on both sides. On top of her head were a familiar looking pair of goggles. The young girl smiled brightly as she looked out at the ocean. "School will start in a couple of days. I've got to make sure I get as much playtime in the ocean as possible!" She said out loud. The girl reached down and pulled her shirt off, revealing a tiny black tube top underneath covering her chest. She tossed the aquamarine colored shirt aside. She then hastily reached down and pulled her blue shorts off, revealing a black colored cloth underneath. She then noticed that she forgot something. "Whoops! I was in such a hurry that I took my shorts off before my shoes!" She said before giggling and removing her footwear. The young brunette girl took off running towards the ocean, a happy and excited smile beaming from her face. She entered the water and kept running until the water was up to her belly button. She then squinted and in a matter of seconds, her two legs transformed into a mermaid tail, and gill slits appeared on both sides of her neck. She then put her goggles over her eyes, and dove down into the water.
"My name is Taylor Glovion. I'm just your average tween girl living in your average world. Well, at least it's average to me. Before I was born, this world was totally different. The world knew nothing of mermaids, Devillians, cat people, and dragons. Earth's only intelligent race, humans, honestly thought they were alone in the universe! That all changed when my mother, Jessica Glovion, discovered that she is a descendent of the mighty Sebastian Poseidon, a merman with powers like that of a god. Indeed, in the melinna past, Earthlings worshipped him as one. She fused with her and my Father's Digimon to become MarineOmnimon and took down an evil Digimon called Ordinemon who had tried to pit Earth and Aqualia against each other in an all out war! Ordinemon hoped that my mother would inadvertently use her goddess-of-the-sea powers to destroy everything while fighting against her. My uncle, he's a king by the way, totally cool, am I right? Well, Uncle Kinandon had sent a fleet of Aqualian spacecraft and Digimon to invade Earth. Uncle Kinandon had been used by Ordinemon. Ordinemon had used an embittered Digimon called Kappamon to shapeshift into my mother and she then killed the entire Aqualian royal family, framing my Mom. Ordinemon did this because she wanted Kinandon to bear a grudge against her so they'd duke it out, awakening both their godlike powers and creating mass destruction in the process. Fortunately, their battle kept the damage to a minimum. This is sort of a long story, but after everything was said and done, Earth knew about the existence of mermaids. They also knew of the existence of Digimon, who my uncle had teamed up with. Sad to say, I don't have any special powers. My grandmother Victoria confirmed that the power of Poseidon skips a generation. And so, I'm just a normal girl." Taylor said out loud as she swam.
"Just who exactly are you talking to?" asked a feminine voice nearby. Taylor turned and saw a black haired gothic looking girl with bat wings protruding out of her back. She had a fancy high tech snorkeling suit on that enabled her to communicate with Taylor. The helmet was like a space helmet, and the suit had a speaker that her voice came out of. On her back was a large oxygen tank, and on the wrist was a digital touch screen interface that kept track of how much oxygen was left in the tank. In fact, the whole thing resembled an astronaut suit rather than a scuba suit. Taylor's heart jumped when she heard the girl ask "Just who exactly are you talking to?". Taylor gasped and backed away a little. Her face went beat red with embarrassment. She chuckled nervously and rubbed the back of her head. "Umm…I was…..I was pretending my life was an anime and I was introducing myself to the audience in episode 1." She said candidly. Her face was beat red with embarrassment and she rubbed the back of her head. She had no idea the black haired girl was floating there. The black haired girl chuckled. "You are such a dork." She said. The black haired girl folded her arms and leaned back against a rock. A smile broke out across the girl's face. She took a deep breath. "Well, I'm Drusilla Gray. I'm the daughter of a Devillian named Zaiaku Gray and a human Earthling named Jacob Gray. My Mom is a Digidestined too and helped out Taylor's Mom and Dad in the battle against Ordinemon. Although her real moment to shine was when they were fighting the Mother Eater who had consumed Yggdrasil; the god of the Digital World. My Mom's LadyDevimon fused with Flora's Angewomon and became Mastemon! Mastemon made mincemeat of that data eating man-made-program-turned-monster!" The black haired girl said.
Taylor looked confused. "Wait, are you making fun of me?" She asked. Drusilla, the black haired girl in the astronaut looking diving suit - chuckled and said, "No, of course not. But you need to remember that my mom is just as cool as yours." Taylor smiled and chuckled nervously, still getting over her initial embarrassment. "Yeah, but can your Mom control the seas? Mine can." Taylor said, putting her thumb to her chest and giving a smug smile with her eyes closed. Drusilla sighed. "You'll never stop hero worshipping your mom will you?" Drusilla asked. Taylor shrugged. "Why should I? She's awesome! She's a successful business woman at Kamishiro Enterprises, she's a Digidestined, she's gorgeous, and she has tons of cool powers! She's resistant to heat and burns, she can create tidal waves and tsunamis at will, she can create shards of ice and project them towards her enemies, and she can command marine life like freaking Aqua Man!" Taylor said, getting more and more animated the more that she talked. Drusilla was nodding along. She had heard all of this before. "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. I've read her autobiography." Drusilla said. "But have you seen the Digimon Universe anime?" Taylor asked. "I have. But let's stop chatting and play. I've got.." She looked down at her wrist to see how much oxygen she had left. Her eyebrows furrowed. The screen said "5%. Return to the surface immediately!" Drusilla sighed. "Crap. My oxygen supply is almost totally depleted. If you hadn't taken so long getting here…" Drusilla said.
Taylor looked disappointed. "Sorry, Drusilla. Get another tank and meet me at Plankton Park." Plankton Park was a playground and park a few miles off the coast of Japan. Taylor and her parents lived in Japan, Nakano to be precise. And since the incident with Kinandon, Ophanimon Falldown Mode (who later digivolved to Ordinemon) and Kappamon, members of the Aqualian race had increasingly moved to Earth, most preferring to make their homes in the oceans, others living on land. Mermaids from Aqualia had the ability to shift between having legs and functioning lungs, and a tail and gill slits just by willing it. Mermaids were amphibious creatures. Their home planet was 95% water and 5% landmass. Taylor, however, was half human and half mermaid, with the human DNA coming from her father's side and the mermaid DNA coming from her mother's side.
Drusilla began swimming upwards towards the surface. Drusilla would prefer to hang out with her bestie on land, but she knew how much Taylor craved the ocean. Her body may be half human, but her mind is all mermaid. Taylor began to swim in the direction of the park when her stomach growled. Taylor placed her hands over her exposed abdomen and grimaced. "I guess I should get something to eat first. It's fine. It'll take Drusilla a bit to get another tank anyway." She said.
Taylor went far out to sea, and eventually came to an underwater mall. As she entered the tall building, filled with various different shops, she couldn't help but realize how similar this mall was to Nakano Broadway. There was an arcade, a comic book store, a cafe, and even a detective agency, among other things like clothing outlets and toy stores. "If my Dad were like my Mom, he'd probably be working here." She said. Taylor didn't resent the fact that her dad was human, she just wished he could live underwater. As an 11 year old, she wasn't exactly ready to move out just yet, so she had to live in a house on land. She much preferred the water. In the water, she felt weightless. She could go up and down and do flips. And as for worrying about what to wear? It's really just a matter of which colored clam shells you want covering your boobies that day. Merfolk wardrobe was simple. She envied Aqualians who lived in the water and only occasionally visited land. She thought about all this stuff as she made her way to Eugene's Cafe. She planned on ordering a fish sandwich. Not all mermaids were vegans like her Mom. Well, Mom wasn't a vegan. She ate beef. She just refused to eat anything aquatic. Taylor thought her Mom was weirdly inconsistent that way. But it didn't matter. Her Mom was so cool to her that it just overshadowed all of her flaws. Taylor swam up to the third floor of the mall and entered the cafe.
Taylor's currently perky and cheerful attitude went dour as she looked over and saw a group of mermaids around her age eating their meals chatting. "Not them." She said under her breath. These were the popular girls at her school. The leader was a blonde with bright red lips and yellow clam shells covering her breasts. Her tail was bright orange which complimented the color of her hair, and at the base of her tail right above the fins was a white bead necklace. "Brittany." Taylor said under her breath. "Maybe I can get my sandwich to-go and get out of here before they notice me." Taylor thought to herself. Taylor floated into the room and tried to make her way past the tables and chairs to the front counter, practically hugging the left wall to be as far away from Brittany and her clique as possible. She was halfway there when Brittany called out "I'd recognize those goggles anywhere! It's the Great Giggling Goggle Freak!" She said, invoking some giggles out of the others. Taylor froze in her…tracks? What do mermaids leave? Taylor bowed her head and sighed, bracing herself for what was coming. Brittany and the other mermaids got up from their table and swam over to Taylor. "Great Giggling Goggle Freak, what's the matter? Don't know your name?" Brittany taunted.
"My name is not Great Giggling Goggle Freak. It's Taylor." She said through gritted teeth.
"Well, you're a freak. That's one thing. You're wearing goggles BECAUSE you're a freak, and you giggle, like, all the time. Especially around Digimon." Brittany said.
Taylor didn't look Brittany in the eyes. She kept looking in the same direction she was looking when she froze. "I wear goggles because my eyes can't tolerate salt water. It's no big deal. It's just a birth defect." Taylor responded.
Another Mermaid, one with blue hair, chimed in "What else would you call someone who's defective but a freak?" A black haired mermaid piled on, "You have human eyes. A mermaid with human eyes is a freak." She said. "Yeah, stop pretending you're one of us." The blue haired mermaid said. Taylor felt anger welling up inside of her. She gritted her teeth and looked Brittany straight in the eye. "I AM one of you! I have gills and a tail and I can breathe this water just as well as any of you!" She barked. Other diners were beginning to notice. They looked worried that a fight might break out. Brittany shrugged. "Yes, but sadly, you're just a half breed." She said before grabbing the goggles over Taylor's eyes, pulling them out and snapping them back on her head. Taylor moaned in pain as salty water quickly filled her eyes. The goggles had snapped back over her eyes perfectly, but were now filled with water. "Ahh….I can't see!" Taylor said, taking her goggles off and placing her hands over her eyes. "If you can't see, simply open your eyes." Brittany taunted. Taylor tried opening her eyes, but the moment she did, more salt came in and the stinging sensation worsened. The blue haired mermaid scoffed. "Pathetic." she said before pushing Taylor.
Taylor turned around and tried to swim for the exit. She bumped into tables and chairs before bumping into the wall. She touched the wall and felt her way towards the door. She finally found the handle and opened it. So far so good. "Now I just have to find my way out of this mall and back to the surface." Taylor said aloud. She swam a little bit more and bumped into an elderly looking merman. "I'm sorry!" She said. "Quite alright." The merman replied before carrying on his way. When Taylor bumped into the gentleman, she dropped her goggles that she had been holding in one hand. "Oh no! My goggles!" Taylor said. She knelt down on the mall floor and began feeling around for them. "This isn't good. My Dad gave me those goggles." The goggles Taylor always wore were indeed a gift from her dad. But these weren't just any goggles her father owned. These were the goggles he wore during his first trip to the Digital World back in 2006.
She felt around more and more, but couldn't find them. "I'll have to come back later with a different pair of goggles to look for them. I can't take this stinging anymore." Taylor said out loud.
Nearby, peeking at Taylor from behind a plant was a small, cute little shark like creature. It looked like a baby shark, but it had four stubby little legs. The little grey shark swam over to Taylor with a concerned look on his face. "Lady, are you ok? You look like you lost something." The tiny legged shark said. "Oh no. This is embarrassing. Look, I have a birth defect. My eyes can't tolerate salt water, and a mean girl from school took them off of me. The goggles are….like a family heirloom. I have to find them and get back to the surface so I can wash my eyes out." Taylor explained. The grey legged shark looked intrigued. "A mermaid who can't stand saltwater? That's like a bird that's afraid of heights." He said. Taylor scowled. "Are you here to help me or mock me?" She said in an irritated tone. "Help. Definitely help." the little shark replied. The shark grabbed the goggles and then faced away from Taylor. "Grab onto me. I'll lead you back to the beach." He said. Taylor did as he said.
Taylor and the little gray shark made it back to the beach. The little gray shark went near a vending machine and got a bottle of water out of it. He came back to Taylor carrying it in his jaws. He then dropped it in front of Taylor and said "I got you a bottle of fresh water." He said. Taylor rinsed her eyes out. She rubbed them a bit. "Thank you." She opened her eyes and looked confused. "Hey, where'd you go?" she asked, looking around. "Down here!" The little gray shark said. Taylor looked down to her left to see the one who helped her. Taylor's eyes were severely bloodshot. "What? Did you just talk?" She asked. "Yep." He replied. "Wow! So that must mean you're a Digimon!" Taylor observed. The little four legged shark creature nodded. "Yep. You got it." He replied. "That's amazing! I've never seen your species before! I know about all kinds of Digimon! I have the names and stats of over 900 committed to memory! But, I've never seen your kind before." Taylor said.
"Then allow me to introduce myself. I'm Sharkmon." Sharkmon said. Taylor gave off a big smile and gave a slight giggle. "I'm Taylor." She then frowned slightly. Her brief giggle reminded her that she got the "giggling" part of the mean nickname "The Great Giggling Goggle Freak" because she giggled frequently when playing with or talking about Digimon. Taylor was still in mermaid form. She didn't change back because she planned on going back under once she retrieved her goggles and reset her eyes.
The beach they were on was more crowded now than when Taylor first entered the water. It had to be 11:00 in the morning by now. There were a bunch of bathing suit clad alien races and humans playing around and having a good time. Some women had green skin and multiple arms. Some looked like bi-pedal catlike creatures, others had purple skin and tentacles. Earth had become a cultural melting pot of different races. Not to mention that there were lots of Digimon playing on the beach too.
"Nice to meet you, Taylor." Sharkmon said. Sharkmon looked a little bashful. "Hey, listen….would you….be my friend? I don't have any friends. At least I don't think so. Truthfully, I can't remember anything prior to today." Sharkmon explained. Taylor looked intrigued. "You can't remember if you have any friends? That's weird." She said. She then gave a huge smile and said "But I'll definitely be your friend!" Sharkmon looked thrilled.
Drusilla came by in her astronaut looking diving suit with a new tank of Oxygen. "I'm finally back. I had to go back home to get one. I would have brought more than one with me, but I didn't expect you to be 30 minutes late." Drusilla said. Taylor was just sitting on the beach slightly moving her mermaid tail up and down as the waves washed over her. When Drusilla spoke, Taylor turned around to look at her. She had put her goggles back on the top of her head. "Good to have you back." Taylor said. Drusilla looked down at Sharkmon who was slowly walking up to her. "Who's this?" Drusilla asked. "I'm Sharkmon. I'm a Digimon who can't remember what I had for breakfast…or if I have any friends besides Taylor. In fact, my name is pretty much the only thing I remember" He said. Drusilla bent down and patted the little quadruped shark on the head. "A Digimon with amnesia, huh?" She said. "I'm Drusilla. I'm a friend of Taylor's too." Sharkmon started bouncing. "Oh yay! If you're Taylor's friend and I'm Taylor's friend then that means you're my friend too!" Sharkmon said. Drusilla smiled. "Yeah, I guess."
Sharkmon looked over to Taylor. He ran over to her and plopped up right onto her scaly lap. He put both front feet on her tummy and looked her in the eyes. Taylor looked a bit taken back at the Digimon suddenly getting on top of her. "Taylor, I want to play! I want to play!" Sharkmon said. Taylor gave out another big smile. "That sounds good to me! That's what Drusilla and I were planning to do before Brittany snapped my goggles at Eugene's." Taylor said. Taylor's stomach growled and she then realized that she hadn't eaten yet. The whole debacle caused her to forget about her hunger. "Sounds like you're hungry. Did you even eat breakfast?" Drusilla asked. Taylor sighed. "No."
Taylor, Drusilla, and Sharkmon went to a nearby hot dog stand on the beach. Taylor reached into the blue shorts she had previously tossed aside and took out her wallet. "So how many hot dogs do you want?" Taylor asked. "20!" Sharkmon responded. Taylor looked astonished. "T-t-t-t-t-twenty!?" She exclaimed. The man running the stand just let out a hardy laugh. The Hot Dog stand man said "Some Digimon are like that. My neighbor's a Tyrannomon and he orders food by the truck loads!" He appeared to be a man in his 50s. Taylor had changed into human form in order to walk to the stand. And in place of her mermaid tail was a black loin cloth. Taylor reluctantly paid for 20 hot dogs for Sharkmon and 1 hot dog each for her and Drusilla.
The three went over to a table with an umbrella and sat down. Taylor unwrapped the hot dogs for Sharkmon and set them down on a plate. Sharkmon devoured all twenty hotdogs whole in one bite! Taylor's eyes went wide with surprise and her jaw dropped. "Wow! Not even my dad's Agumon can eat that many hot dogs at once!" Taylor exclaimed.
Sharkmon's eyes sparkled and he gave a gigantic smile. "Th-th-this is the best thing I've ever tasted! Holy Digi Sludge!" He exclaimed. Taylor giggled. "So I guess I discovered your favorite food." She said, before taking a bite of her own hot dog.
After they were done eating, they headed out to the ocean. Taylor regained her tail and gills once she was out in deep enough water, and put her goggles back over her eyes. "Where are we going to play?" Sharkmon asked. "It's a new playground in the reef." Drusilla answered.
It took them about 20 minutes to swim out to the reef, but once they got there, they found a large playground. It wasn't like a playground you would find on land; with swings, slides, and monkey bars. This playground took advantage of the physics under water. Not to mention, there was some Aqualian technology to help out. There was a big round tube with wooden boards inside of it. Inside, a small male merchild and female merchild, even younger than Taylor, were swimming around in circles. One of their friends sat stationary near the top of the tube. The tube was sealed at the top. When the friends reached high enough speed, they stopped and allowed the current they created to just push them along in circles.
There was also a race track about 50 meters long. Mer children who had a need for speed would race each other. Whoever made it to one side and then the other first was the winner. But aside from bragging rights, he also got a small toy as a prize, handed out by one of the staff who ran the playground.
There was also a small arcade area where people played virtual reality video games.
Finally, there was a table and chairs with a robot sitting on one of the chairs. The Robot had the "Plankton Park" logo on it. That was the name of the park they had just entered. A merman who looked to be in his 20s was arm wrestling with it, and not having an easy time!
Another table also had a robot, but this robot was a super computer who could play chess. Only the most intelligent merfolk could give this thing a checkmate.
Aqualian playgrounds were something else. "Wow! This place looks neat!" Sharkmon said. "What do you want to do first?" Taylor asked. "I want to race!" Sharkmon responded happily. "Sounds good to me. With this helmet on, I can't do virtual reality devices, and I don't know how to play chess." Drusilla said.
Taylor and Sharkmon swam up to the race superviser. Drusilla just kind of hopped along like Neil Armstrong taking his first steps on the moon, which was all the funnier considering that her diving suit heavily resembled his space suit. The previous race had just finished. "How many are racing?" Asked the supervisor. "Three. Myself, Sharkmon, and Drusilla." Taylor asked. Drusilla's eyebrows furrowed and her lip puckered. "I think against a shark Digimon and a mermaid, I might be at a bit of a disadvantage." She thought to herself.
They took their positions. The supervisor said "Whoever gets to the other end of the finish line and back first will win…" He paused for dramatic effect. "The Newest Edition Of The Digmon Reference Book!" Taylor's face lit up and she squealed. "That's been on my Amazon wish list for like, EVER!" Drusilla smiled. Maybe it wasn't so bad she was going to lose to her friend. Taylor was way more into Digimon non-fiction than she was.
"Reeeaddyyyyyy! ……GO!"
Taylor and Sharkmon took off at a great speed, leaving Drusilla behind. Drusilla moved her arms and legs as best she could to swim, but she was just too slow compared to these two. "Well, what can ya do? I'm a bat, not a fish." Drusilla said. Taylor and Sharkmon were giving it their all. "Think you can beat me with that tiny little tail of yours, little guy?" Taylor bantered as she began to leave Sharkmon behind. "I don't need my tail! I have my fin!" Sharkmon said. The fin on his back began to glow bright. Sharkmon tucked his legs in and curled up into a ball. He then began to roll, and roll fast! "Rolling Shark!" Sharkmon shouted. He shot past Taylor, much to her astonishment! When Sharkmon passed the finish line, he turned around and rolled back in the other direction. Taylor touched the pole marking the finish line in her lane and quickly turned around and swam back towards the starting line. "This guy sure can roll! Rolling Shark? Is that an attack of his?" Taylor mused to herself quietly. She moved her tail up and down as fast as she could to try to pick up speed, and she moved her arms very quickly, but it was no use. She could not catch up to Sharkmon. They both passed Drusilla however, who hadn't even reached the turn around point yet. "That tortoise was a lying little turd. Slow and steady doesn't win you any races." Drusilla joked.
Sharkmon reached the starting/finish line and uncurled himself. "I wooon! I won! I won! I won!" Sharkmon said while happily bouncing up and down. Taylor finally touched the pole at the starting line. She was completely out of breath. Water was passing through her gills in large quantities. "*Huff* *Puff* Huff* Puff* You…..cheated!" Taylor complained. The supervisor looked at his clipboard. "Well….actually, I'm looking at the rules here and there's technically nothing that prohibits a racer from gaining momentum by any method other than swimming. Sorry." He said. He grabbed the copy of the Digimon Reference Book and handed it to Sharkmon. "Here ya go, little guy." The race superviser guy said. Sharkmon smiled and made a little happy noise as he reached out and took the Digimon Reference Book from the supervisor's hand.
A group of 7 Sangomon walked up to Sharkmon. "Wow! You were amazing! We've never been able to beat Taylor in a race before!" Said one of the Sangomon. Sangomon was a small Rookie level Digimon that looked like it was wearing a helmet made of pink coral. It had two blue stubby legs, two blue tentacles, and a small tail. Sharkmon turned to the group of Sangomon. "You know Taylor too?" He asked. "Of course, she comes to this part of the ocean to play with us all the time. We've never won a single race against her." Another Sangomon replied. Taylor was eyeing the Digimon Reference book in Sharkmon's hands, longing for it. "I can't believe you beat the champion!" He said.
Of course, this racetrack was only recently built, as was the Plankton Playground in total. But Taylor still raced the Sangomon in this general area of the ocean. Taylor had a lot of good friends in Deep Savers Digimon. Her Dad sometimes endearingly joked that she was like his own little Disney Princess. Taylor just kept staring at the Digimon Reference Book. "My precious…" She said utter her breath. "Would you like to race me too?" Sharkmon asked. "No way! If we can't beat Taylor, there's no way we can beat you." Another Sangomon said. One of the Sangomon turned to Taylor and said "The other Sangomon have been pretty slack, but I for one have been training my butt off hoping for the day that I would some day surpass your speed, Taylor! Race me again! Right here! Right now!" Taylor didn't respond. She was still staring at the Digimon Reference Book in Sharkmon's hands, although now her face was mere inches away from the book and she started drooling a bit. Drusilla grabbed her shoulder and lifted her up from her hunched over position. "Taylor, you're ignoring your friend." Drusilla said. Taylor looked like she had snapped out of her daze. She gazed down to see the group of Sangomon. Apparently, she hadn't noticed them until just now. "When did you guys get here?" She asked. "Race me! Race me! Race me!" said the insistent little coral headed Digimon. Taylor giggled. "Sure thing, Bob." She said. Bob was the name she had given to this Sangomon. In order to tell them apart, she had assigned different nicknames to all of them. The one insistent on a race was Bob.
All of a sudden, the area went dark and screams could be heard. Everyone looked up to see a bunch of Dolphinmon, Coelamon, and Tylomon all swimming away as fast as they could. Some were screaming, crying, or shouting for help. Taylor's face expressed concern. "Something's not right. Dolphinmon never swims in schools with Tylomon." Taylor said. "Oh, so it wasn't the deafening sound of panic that tipped you off?" Drusilla said sarcastically, also looking up at the large school of aquatic Digimon.
Taylor swam up as fast as she could and grabbed hold of one of the Dolphinmon's fins, stopping her in her tracks. "Let me go! Let me go! I don't wanna die!" The Dolphinmon screamed. "What's going on here? Why are all of you fleeing?" Taylor asked. Before the Dolphinmon could respond, a big red laser beam hit the Dolphinmon, going in one side of her body and out the other! Dolphinmon's eyes went wide with shock! "No! I don't want to d-!" The Dolphinmon dissipated into digital particles and reformed into a DigiEgg! However, after no more than 1 second, the DigiEgg also dissipated into digital particles! Taylor's eyes went wide with shock and she gasped. "The….the DigiEgg!"
When Digimon die, they revert back into the form of a DigiEgg. Sometime afterwards, they are reborn as baby Digimon. More often than not, their memories are completely wiped from their previous life, but occasionally, a Digimon will retain the memories of its past life after hatching. But this time, the DigiEgg itself was deleted!
Drusilla, Sharkmon, and the Sangomon below looked just as shocked as Taylor. Taylor immediately looked down to her friends on the ocean bottom and shouted "Get out of here!" She didn't know who or what was attacking, but she knew that this was a dangerous situation. Drusilla, Sharkmon, and the Sangomon began to swim away to find a place to hide. Taylor followed suit.
While they were swimming quickly, Drusilla looked over to Taylor and asked "What just happened?" Taylor responded "I don't know. The Dolphinmon was shot with some laser and was killed. She turned into a DigiEgg, but for some reason the DigiEgg itself was destroyed!" Sharkmon looked concerned. "But….if the DigiEgg was destroyed….Dolphinmon can't be reborn." Taylor was silent for a moment. She had a deep love for Digimon and hated seeing any of them get hurt. "Yes. She's….probably gone for good." Taylor said. It was hard for her to utter that sentence. "I can't die! Not until I beat Taylor in a race!" Bob the Sangomon shouted. "Where are we going?" Drusilla asked. "To a cavern nearby, we can hide there until whatever is attacking leaves." Taylor replied. Taylor knew this area like the back of her hand.
Just then, 3 purple machines descended down from above in front of Taylor and company. Two of the purple machines had no arms and legs and simply floated through the water. It had two appendages on the sides of its body that resemble wings, in addition to several cables at the base of its body. Its body was black with what looked like a huge yellow eye in the middle. There was one purple machine in the middle that has the main body of the other two, but with long arms and legs, spheres for a torso, and a secondary structure on the top of its head. "Are these Digimon?" Drusilla asked. "Not any that I've seen!" Taylor responded. The crew froze in fear. Taylor was quickly trying to think of a way out. She wasn't sure if these machines were what fired the laser at the Dolphinmon, but she had a pretty good guess.
The taller purple machine looked down at Bob, the Sangomon. It fired a laser beam at him, deleting him instantly! Taylor, Sharkmon, and Drusilla gasped in horror as their friend first reverted back into a DigiEgg and then the DigiEgg disintegrated! "Bob! No!" Taylor screamed. They then heard a voice from behind. "Well done, well done." Everyone looked to see a merman with long black hair, sunglasses on, and a tattoo on his chest of a strange logo. The logo tattooed on his chest looked like a DotAgumon with a cancel symbol over it, with the initials C.A.D under it. "Who are you!? What did you do to Bob!?!?" Taylor asked, angry. "It's nothing that concerns you, child. I'm just pest control." He responded. "Pest control?" Sharkmon said. "Yes. Digimon are pests. And what do we do with pests? We exterminate them." The merman replied.
Taylor gritted her teeth and clenched her fist. "You monster! Bob was my friend. I really liked him. He was so spunky and full of life….and YOU MURDERED HIM!" Taylor angrily shouted. The blonde sunglasses wearing merman just laughed. "Friends with Digimon? That's absurd! Digimon are nothing but pests. They'll eat you out of a house and home, they'll make your technology malfunction, and in the worst case scenario, they'll attack you! And these are but a few of the reasons I consider Digimon pests." The merman responded. He then swam over and put his hand on the purple machine that had killed Bob. "Now this? This is a good Digimon. Artificially created in a lab for the sole purpose of deleting these vermin. The two smaller ones are called Gizumon AT. The largest one in the middle is called Gizumon XT."
Taylor was so angry that she was shaking. She was so focused on the Gizumon and this mysterious merman that she hadn't realized that Sharkmon was trembling with anger as well. "Unforgivable! What you did is unforgivable!" Sharkmon shouted. Taylor looked down at Sharkmon. They both nodded at each other, knowing what the other was thinking. Taylor turned her attention back to their foes and shouted "We'll wipe you out!" Taylor said, swinging her arm to the side. Sharkmon bolted towards the Gizumon.
"Rolling Shark!" Sharkmon shouted as the fin on his back glowed a bright whitish yellow, and he folded his arms in and started rolling. The rolling Digimon slammed into the Gizumon in the middle, sparks flying off of the metallic Digimon from Sharkmon's fin repeatedly striking it as he rolled. Sharkmon jumped back and looked to see what damage he caused. Gizumon's metal coat was scuffed up slightly, but it hadn't really taken any damage. Gizumon XT took its long metal arm and slapped Sharkmon hard! Sharkmon grunted in pain as he flew back, hitting Taylor in the chest. "Sharkmon! Are you ok?" Taylor asked. Sharkmon responded "I'm fine. Don't worry, I'll protect everyone." Sharkmon then swam back over to Gizumon XT and attacked again. "Rolling Shark!" Sharkmon shouted. Again, the fin on his back turned into a sharp glowing metal blade, and then Sharkmon spun while attacking his opponent. Sparks again flew. Again, Sharkmon jumped back to see what damage Gizumon XT took. Once again, hardly any damage could be seen on the large mechanical Digimon. The merman with the odd tattoo laughed. "You honestly think that dinky little Digimon can stop Gizumon XT? What a stupid little girl you are!"
Gizumon XT then slammed its large metallic arm onto Sharkmon over and over. Sharkmon grunted in pain with each blow. Taylor looked concerned for the little Digimon. "Sharkmon, no!" Taylor shouted in worry. After taking several hits, Sharkmon was able to roll off to the side for a counter attack. "Baby Bite!" Sharkmon shouted before clamping down on Gizumon XT's big purple metal arm. Gizumon XT wasn't phased by the attack at all! Sharkmon took its jaws off of Gizumon XT to reveal some bite marks in the metal. The Gizumon quickly spun around and kicked Sharkmon with one of his legs. Sharkmon shouted as he flew back. Sharkmon then swam up to the Gizumon XT again "Baby Bite!" He took another bite of Gizumon XT's arm. Gizumon XT just slung him away. Sharkmon tumbled back a little bit before landing on the Ocean Floor. "Don't worry, Taylor. I think I got him on the ropes." Sharkmon said. Sharkmon got up and swam up to Gizumon XT again "Amphibious Assault!" Sharkmon yelled. This attack was Sharmon repeatedly scratching his opponent with his small claws. Once again Gizumon XT knocked him to the ground.
The merman laughed some more. "This is pathetic! Little girl, if you really care about Digimon so much, why don't you stop him? Grab him and run away!" He taunted. Sharkmon had taken some serious damage. He was having trouble standing up. Taylor floated in the water watching helplessly as Gizumon XT walked over to Sharkmon, put his foot on Sharkmon and started repeatedly stomping on him. Sharkmon cried out in pain each time he was stomped on. "Sharkmon! No!" Taylor started crying a little. She had been holding back so as to appear strong, but she knew they couldn't defeat the Gizumon. There were three of them, and Sharkmon couldn't even hold his own against one of them. Taylor thought that she and Drusilla would probably be spared, but she believed it was over for Sharkmon and her Sangomon friends.
A determined look came across her face, and before anyone knew it, Taylor quickly swam over to Gizumon XT and rammed it with her own body. "Leave my friend alone!" Taylor shouted as she rammed into the Digimon's body. Gizumon XT retaliated by slapping the mermaid with its huge metal arm. The young mermaid was sent hurling through the water and landed face down several feet away. "Taylor!" Drusilla called out, worried. Taylor grabbed her head and moaned as she looked over to Gizumon XT which had resumed its stomping attack on Sharkmon. Her head was pounding and her ears were ringing. She thought she might have gotten a concussion. She glared at Gizumon XT. "What was I doing just now? Trying to fight a Digimon with my own body? I probably looked like my stupid old man when he was my age. It's hopeless." Taylor thought to herself.
When Taylor was about to give up hope, suddenly a bright ball of light appeared in front of her. The ball of light descended from about 5 feet in the air until it landed in the young mermaid's palms. The light faded, revealing a small technological device. It had a small square screen, a rubber sphere in the center like the rubber balls that used to be at the bottom of computer mice. The square screen and the 90s computer mouse esqe ball were surrounded by blue plastic that made a sort of U shape, and on the sides were rubber grips that were also blue. Taylor looked at the device. "Is this what I think it is?" Taylor said to herself.
Sharkmon was badly beaten and battered. He groaned in pain. His body started glitching out. This body glitching phenomenon was something that happened to Digimon who were on the verge of death. The Gizumon XT raised its foot for one final blow, Taylor "stood" up and held the blue device in the air above her head. "SHARKMOOOON!!!!!" She shouted.
Suddenly, the device started glowing, and the words "DIGIVOLUTION" appeared on the square screen of the device. A beam of light shot out of the device and enveloped Sharkmon. "This feeling. I feel…..power welling up within me." Sharkmon said.
"Sharkmon Digivolve to….Jawsmon!"
When the light faded, in Sharkmon's place was a tall bi-pedal muscular shark man. He had two ripped arms and fists like a bodybuilder instead of fins. He had a larger shark fin on his back than his previous form, and his legs were also muscular like a body builder's. He wore blue shorts and had a menacing expression on his face. Taylor's usual bright smile reappeared. "I knew it! This is a digivice! I'm Digidestined and Sharkmon is my partner!" Taylor said in a happy and excited tone.
Jawsmon lunged at Gizumon XT with his powerful legs and reared his arm back for a punch. "Power Pummeling!" Jawsmon shouted. Jawsmon punched Gizumon XT over and over with his powerful and muscular arms. Gizumon XT was badly damaged. Its circuitry started sparking. Gizumon XT fell on its back and once it was on its back, Jawsmon jumped on top of it. "Titanic Bite!" Jawsmon shouted before taking a huge chunk out of the mechanical Digimon with his jaws. "Titanic Bite! Titanic Bite! Titanic Bite!" Jawsmon shouted over and over as he continued his biting attack. He kept ripping off mechanical parts with his teeth, stripping the Digimon of more and more of its parts. Jawsmon then swam up several feet above Gizumon XT before diving down upon it in a powerful body slam while shouting "Shark Body Ram!" This attack caused Gizumon XT to dissipate into digital particles before reforming into a purple DigiEgg, which Jawsmon subsequently stomped on.
The merman with blonde hair, sunglasses, and the weird tattoo was stunned. "I-Impossible! Where did this power come from?" He said. Taylor swam up and placed her hand on Jawsmon's shoulder with a huge grin on her face. She held out her blue digivice and said "From this thing, sucka!" Jawsmon shook his head. "No. The digivice is only a conduit. This power came from your great love of Digimon and your desire to protect us." Jawsmon said. The remaining two Gizumon (Gizumon AT) who were standing by doing nothing that whole time finally decided to attack. They swam over to Jawsmon. "Taylor, get back." Jawsmon said. Taylor kicked her mermaid tail and swam away from Jawsmon. Jawsmon looked at the two Gizumon AT coming for him. "Bring it on!" He said. When they were close enough, he unleashed another "Power Pummeling!" In a matter of moments, the remaining two Gizumon were deleted, and turned into purple DigiEggs which Jawsmon subsequently stomped on.
Drusilla was in awe. "A-amazing!" She said as she looked at Jawsmon. Jawsmon turned to attack the blonde merman. "Now, it's your turn." He said. As Sharkmon, his voice sounded like that of a male child, but as Jawsmon, his voice was much deeper and manly sounding. Like a Travis Willingham or a Patrick Seitz. The merman looked fearful. Over his com device, a voice told him "It's ok. Retreat for now." The merman took a DigiWorm phone out of his satchel and used it to open a portal. He swam through the portal.
Several hours later, Taylor, Drusilla, Sharkmon, and the group of Sangomon were back on the beach. It was late in the day, the sun was going down, and beach goers had pretty much left. Taylor was now in human form with her black loin cloth and black tube top clothing her. The goggles she wore over her eyes were now sitting on top of her head. Drusilla was still in her diving suit, but had taken the helmet off. Taylor had gotten a wooden sign and staked in the sand, and had placed large piles of stones in front of it. She dipped a paint brush in a bucket of paint and proceeded to write something on the sign. "Here lies Bob the Sangomon. A good friend, and a great racing rival." A couple of tears went down Taylor's cheeks as she wrote those words. "Oh, Bob." She said softly.
Sharkmon moaned sadly. Drusilla looked down at Taylor, who was still crouched down after writing on the small sign. "Taylor…I think we should tell your dad. He's a detective. I'm sure he can figure out who created these Gizumon, why they're permanently deleting Digimon, and he can arrest them." Drusilla suggested. Taylor gritted her teeth. "Yeah. If we can get him to crawl out of his hole long enough to listen to us." Taylor said, sounding frustrated.
