I was born and raised in Americus, a small town in rural South Georgia, where I developed a deep passion for English and Literature. I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Middle Grades Education from Georgia Southwestern State University.
My teaching career began at Staley Middle School, where I taught ELA/Writing across various levels. I earned my gifted endorsement in 2013 and, in 2019, transitioned to the Dooly County School System as the K-8 Media Specialist, a role I held until my retirement in 2021. Throughout my career, I have held several key positions, including Department Chairperson for 7 years, Team Leader for 2 years, and District Writing to Win Trainer for 2 years. I also contributed as a member of the School Testing Team coordinated the School and District Spelling Bees for 12 years, and served on the School Leadership Team and Superintendent's Cabinet. Additionally, I am a graduate of the Georgia Leadership Institute for School Improvement, participated in the Summer Leadership and Curriculum Academy with Debbie Craven, and presented at the Georgia Middle School Association Conference. Most importantly, I have had the privilege of teaching and impacting thousands of students.
Education is my passion, and I particularly enjoy fostering a love of reading and writing in young minds. I have been honored as a STAR Teacher four times and have received two Golden Apple Teacher awards from graduating seniors, reflecting my commitment to excellence in education.
