Stephanie Holmes Didwania

Welcome to my personal website! Here you can find links to my CV, research, and contact information.

I am an Associate Professor at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. My research uses empirical methods to study the criminal legal system. I am primarily interested in understanding how prosecutors exercise discretion in criminal cases and in pretrial detention for federal criminal defendants. In addition to studying the criminal system, I am also interested in the economics of intellectual property law and innovation.

I received my J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School and my Ph.D. in Managerial Economics and Strategy from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Before joining the faculty at Wisconsin, I was an Assistant Professor at Temple University Beasley School of Law, a Harry A. Bigelow Fellow at the University of Chicago Law School, a law clerk for Judge Richard A. Paez of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and a Visiting Scholar with the American Bar Foundation.
