Welcome to my page!
My name is Diana Hincapié. I am an Economist with more than 15 years of experience supporting social policy programs across different countries and leading research projects that have produced rigorous evidence on the impact of public policies and programs.
I am passionate about improving education policy and providing better opportunities for every child and youth to develop the skills they need to reach their full potential.
My main research interests are Education policy, Economics of education, Social policy, Early childhood development, Impact evaluation, Poverty and inequality. My research has focused on the quality of education, skills development, teacher policy, early childhood development, the extended school day, the inclusion of people with disabilities and the nutritional status of children.
I am a co-author of three books: the Inter-American Development's Bank flagship "Learning Better: Public policy for skills development" (https://www.iadb.org/skills), "Profesion: Profesor en America Latina" (www.iadb.org/profesionprofesor) and “Profesores a Prueba” (https://publications.iadb.org/es/profesores-prueba-claves-para-una-evaluacion-docente-exitosa). I have also published articles in peer-reviewed journals, and other publications. My publications have surpassed half a million downloads!
I worked at the Education Division and the Research Department of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for more than eight years, where I led research projects on the quality of education, skills development, teacher policy, early childhood development, the extended school day and inclusion. I also worked in the design and implementation of impact evaluations of education programs and policies in Latin America and the Caribbean. Before working at the IDB, I worked at the World Bank's Poverty and Gender Unit in Washington, DC, and the Center for Economic Development Studies at Los Andes University in Bogota, Colombia.
