Behind the Story

Before The Basalt Pulse became a finished novel, it was this — handwritten pages mapping out SAM and Albert's conversations, the mountain's voice, and the grandfather's device, sketched out scene by scene while the story was still taking shape. 

These early drafts show how much of the finished dialogue — SAM and the mountain, Albert's questions, the grandfather's device — was already alive on paper long before the final manuscript came together.
