A mining industry where women are welcomed, supported, and empowered to participate and lead, and where youth are inspired to explore opportunities across the sector.
Diamonds in the Rough works to advance diversity and inclusion in the mining industry. Through public speaking, outreach, and hands-on training, the organization educates youth and the broader community while encouraging greater participation in mine rescue.
Diamonds in the Rough operates by the following guiding principles: Inclusive, Equitable, Ethical, and a Fun environment to foster advanced learning.
Diamonds in the Rough is a women-led mine rescue training and competition program focused on developing technical excellence, leadership capacity, and team strength within the mining industry. The program provides a collaborative training environment where participants gain hands-on experience across all mine rescue roles while building the confidence and capability required to lead.
Through structured training, mentorship, and international competition preparation, participants develop the advanced technical, decision-making, and leadership skills necessary to serve as effective mine rescue captains and emergency responders. The program strengthens safety culture within the industry while creating meaningful opportunities for women to participate and lead in mine rescue.
