About Us

Our Mission

At Diablo Valley Devils, our mission is clear: to inspire and nurture the next generation of triathletes by providing a supportive, educational, and fun environment where young athletes can thrive.

As a USAT certified youth triathlon club, we are committed to promoting the sport of triathlon as a pathway to achieving personal excellence, fostering healthy lifestyles, and building a sense of community among our members.

What We Offer

While Diablo Valley Devils does not provide regular coached workouts, we offer a variety of resources and opportunities for our athletes:

Community Support: Be part of a vibrant community of young athletes and experienced mentors passionate about triathlon.

Periodic Clinics and Workshops: Led by experienced triathletes and coaches, these sessions cover everything from technical skills and race strategies to nutrition and equipment.

Group Training Events: We organize periodic group rides, runs, and swims, providing a safe and motivating environment for athletes to train together.

Resource Sharing: Our club acts as a hub for information, sharing valuable resources that direct our members to additional training opportunities and clinics in the community.

Social and Community Events: Beyond training and racing, we foster a strong club spirit through social gatherings and more, believing that camaraderie is key to our collective success.

What We Are Not

It's important to clarify that Diablo Valley Devils is *not* a coaching service. While we facilitate learning and improvement, our focus is on creating a platform where young athletes can access resources, find training partners, and enjoy the communal aspects of triathlon.

Code of Conduct

Diablo Valley Devils is committed to fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all multi-sport athletes. The club's Code of Conduct sets forth expectations for member behavior to maintain membership privileges. Unacceptable behaviors include dishonesty, unsafe training and racing practices, discrimination, disrespect, abuse in any form, substance abuse, illegal activities, irresponsibility in event participation, delayed payments, and misuse of club partnerships. Members are expected to act honestly, safely, and respectfully, both in-person and online, uphold anti-discrimination values, and engage responsibly in club and sporting events. Failure to comply with these guidelines may lead to suspension or revocation of membership.

Meet the Team

Diablo Valley Devils was founded by two sets of father-daughter teams. In addition, dedicated volunteers, including founding members, experienced triathletes, and passionate parents, are all committed to supporting our young athletes. All of our Club coaches are SafeSport trained and certified.

Shantelle Tupaz, Co-Founder

Shantelle Tupaz (2024) has been competing in triathlons since she was 7 years old. She has earned the ‘All American’ title and represented the U.S.A. in world triathlons. In 2022, she placed 1st at the World Triathlon Sprint & Relay Championships in Montreal, Canada; and 2nd at the World Triathlon Age-Group Championships in Abu Dhabi.

Rozel Tupaz, Head Coach

Rozel Tupaz is a multisport athlete and dad of Shantelle. He is widely known for his commitment and enthusiasm to the sport of triathlon as well as his extraordinary ability to coach his athletes in race strategies. He can often be seen at races wearing a cowboy hat and quietly providing racing advise before and after each event.

Eme Williams, Co-Founder

Eme Williams (2026) started competing in triathlons since she was 10 years old. She enjoys the challenge that triathlon brings as well as the warmness of the community. She enjoys competing 2-3 races each year at a club level and hopes to share her passion with more like-minded athletes in the Diablo Valley.

Tai Williams, Assistant Coach

Tai Williams is also a multisport athlete and dad of Eme. He previously raced Olympic and Half Ironman distances and just picked the sport back up when his daughter needed a racing partner. He's enjoying being her bike mechanic and emotional support person.
