Diablo Taiko is a community taiko ensemble located in Concord, California where classes have been held since early 1990 at the Diablo Japanese American Religious & Cultural Center. Our mission, "Dentou, Keisho", translated as tradition and succession, honors the resilience of those before us by carrying forth cultural traditions for future generations to come.
Our tailored performances and workshops aspire to continue generational legacies by sharing both traditional taiko “heartbeat” rhythms, and contemporary arrangements. We hope to interactively engage and connect every community through taiko drumming, additional instrumentals, song, and dance.
Diablo Taiko's prior performance venue's include countless public community, private corporate, and non-profit events throughout the Bay Area. We are honored to perform for each, including Japanese officials of several Sister City organizations, the official chambers of City and County Board of Supervisors, as well as at Yoshi’s. We also provide support for non-profit organizations such as the Cancer Support Community, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Make A Wish Foundation. Diablo Taiko leadership is a charter member of TCA, a Taiko Community Alliance global collaborative.
