Introduction:
The DHWANI Edu app is a resource for establishing a Mother centric - Community Based Model for Early detection and rehabilitation of Deaf & Hard of hearing Children. It is primarily targeted at mothers of these children. The app has resources for home based auditory - speech - language therapy to prepare the child to be school ready by five years of age. The main support for these mothers is the Anganwadi worker who can guide the mother to utilise the resources available in the app to educate and train her child after fitting with assistive devices. The ideation and concept creation of DHWANI Edu app was done by a team of researchers at St. John’s Medical College Hospital, Indian Institute of Science and Parents Association of Deaf Children as a part of a BIRAC funded project.
