About
The Women in STEM Club at DHS is hosting our second annual Mathalon. This event is a friendly elementary/middle school math competition with the goal of providing girls across the Sacramento and Davis region with an encouraging environment to demonstrate and discover their prowess in mathematics, and to inspire them to continue and further their passion for it. Additionally, we are including a STEM fair to provide a captivating demonstration for young students as a part of the Mathalon event.
This year, we are moving to an online event in hopes to provide an uplifting event for elementary and middle school students, who struggle the most during distance learning.

Women in STEM Mathalon 2019
Women in STEM Mathalon 2019
In 2019, we hosted our first ever Women in STEM Mathalon at Davis Senior High School on April 27th. We offered more than $900 in monetary prizes and various other STEM related activities, all free of cost to the participants!
We are proud to offer this event to over 80 participants.
With the support of over 40 volunteers, including many members of university Women in STEM organizations and nonprofits from UC Davis, our event ran with great success.
After the event, we received a great amount of positive feedback and gratitude from the participants and their parents.
It was truly an inspiring experience to witness the girls eager to compete, challenge themselves, and form lasting friendships while learning more about math and science together!
