About me

I am a PhD candidate in economics at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. My interest lies in the intersection of technology, macroeconomics and development. I am inspired by asking and analysing the age-old question - "Why some countries are rich and others poor." My thesis revolves around the nature of technological change and its impact, with a focus on developing regions of the world.

Like many engineering students in India, I too transitioned away from engineering to something else. When I first came across how simple models can explain seemingly difficult questions of our society, I was hooked. More so, when I started learning the history of it all and how concisely such mental models were able to give a broad evolutionary picture of our society. Even though maths of economics and society are complex, I found it easy to imagine different facets and their interrelationships when thinking about our world. I hope this answers once and for all my story of going from engineering to economics, a question that I have been asked countless times.
