Hello, I am Dhruv!

I am a Peter O'Donnell Jr. Postdoctoral Fellow at The University of Texas of Austin. I work with Prof. Patrick Heimbach at the Computational Research in Ice and Ocean Systems (CRIOS) group where I employ scientific machine learning techniques for Earth System Models. This work aims to further our understanding of ocean-sea-ice interactions. Previously, I obtained my Ph.D. from Virginia Tech working at the intersection of multi-phase flows, computational fluid dynamics, high-performance computing and machine learning. My research focused on employing standard turbulence modelling techniques to model unsteady multi-phase flows, primarily in the aspect of cavitation and later, design data-driven methods to augment turbulence modelling. 

My work is focused on designing novel techniques, equipped with the relative abundance of experimental or observational data and machine learning for low-fidelity methods in the broader domain of multi-physics simulation applications.    

Other than working on research, I am an avid American football (NFL) fan, flamenco dancer and occasionally write some poetry.

Salut! Je m'appelle Dhruv. Je suis un chercheur post-doctorant au l'Institut d'Oden pour la science et l'ingénierie informatique à l'Université du Texas à Austin . Je travaille avec Prof. Patrick Heimbach au groupe CRIOS. J'ai obtenu mon doctorat sous la supervision du Prof. Olivier Coutier-Delgosha à Virginie Tech. J'utilise des techniques scientifiques d'apprentissage automatique pour les modèles climatiques mondiaux, afin d'améliorer notre compréhension des interactions entre l'océan et la glace. Pendant mon doctorat, j'ai fait la recherche sur la modélisation numérique d'écoulements cavitants, surtout pour modéliser la turbulence. 

Hormis travail, je suis un fan de sport, notamment de football américain et baseball. Si c'est possible, j'aime voyager près de la mer! Quelquefois, j'écris aussi de la poésie.
