Dhritiman Gupta

Hi, Welcome to my site! I received my PhD from Indian Statistical Institute, Delhi. My advisor is Dr. Prabal Roy Chowdhury . I am currently employed as an Assistant Professor at O.P. Jindal Global University.

My research interests lie in the domain of economic theory with a focus on Contest Theory, Information Economics, Public Economics and Industrial Organization. In my job market paper I consider a model of a collective contest, where two groups fight over a private prize and study the internal organization of the groups given that it is a situation of conflict between the two groups. We are able to provide strategic foundations to a form of internal organization of the groups, which despite being ad hoc, was treated as the gold standard in the literature so far. In another paper, along with my co author (Soumendu Sarkar), I study a model of multilateral bargaining. Buyers have to negotiate successfully with a certain number of sellers to implement a project. Using techniques from graph theory we build in different degrees of complementarity between inputs to be purchased. We are able to show that the problem of hold out vanishes even with minimal degrees of substitutability between inputs.
