Hello I’m David a fully qualified integrative counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). As a registered member of the BACP I use The Ethical Framework to guide and inform my decisions while working. A copy of the ethical framework is available from the BACP website.
With over 10 years of experience as a mental health professional, I have worked in diverse settings, including clinical environments and private practice.
Practice description
In my practice, I provide a warm, non-judgmental space to explore a variety of life challenges. I frequently work with clients navigating important life transitions, such as moving towards independence, entering adulthood, or adjusting to changing family dynamics.
I heavily support individuals struggling with perfectionism, fear of failure, and a harsh "inner critic," helping them to reframe negative core beliefs and rebuild their confidence. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, trying to manage habits, or feeling stuck in your creative or career pursuits, we will work together to break down mental barriers, focus on achievable action plans, and build your resilience by "starting small."
My first session
Our first session is an opportunity to connect and see how we work together. We will explore your current presenting issues—what brings you to therapy right now—and identify areas where you feel stuck. We will look at a holistic picture of your life, from family dynamics and physical wellbeing to your future goals and ambitions. Together, we will gently challenge any immediate self-critical thoughts and establish a collaborative, low-pressure plan. You don't have to have it all figured out; my goal is to help you build the "muscle" of starting.
